  1. Instead of creating a new thread I just continue to post to this one...got a question...whe the xpcreate batch is runing and it's recompressing the cabs...does that operation take up a lot of cpu....cause my computer becomes a bottleneck.....
  2. It's retail....came with the box. The box stays it's pc2700. My bios reads it as pc3200. Accordingly to newegg reviews the pc3200 isn't as good as pc2700. So cosair might of mispackaged it...they they underclocked it...it would read it as pc2700 right?...
  3. talking about RAM chips....get a load of this...I bought Cosair Value PC2700 from Newegg....installed it and ran the SoftSandra Pro. The Ram is actually PC3200. This is what it says.... VS512MB400 512MD 16x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM PC3200U-2533-600.....
  4. I'm getting read copy errors during the install. Has anyone had any similiar problems? Twice I had this particular problem. Both times it has been with two files per incident and they were different. This time they are dskoui_w.chm vcmd.ex_ I'm going to delete the xpcreate directory to do a clean install of the batch directory and I' going to use a Nero to erase my CDRW. Could that be the problem....using a CDRW disc?. These can be so unreliable from my experience. Anyone else has any suggestions?..... I will also update the ASPI layer.
  5. I usually dont delete any partitions...just reformat the one that I install Wind2k on. It usually leaves the existing Drive letter assignment the way I want it. What I did change was the Autopartition thingy.
  6. First of all....thank you for your patience with me. To make a long story short I had to download a fresh copy of Media Player 9 to make XPCREATE successful in slipstreaming all the hotfixes and updates without any errors. I just installed virtual machine and I'm going through a test run. The only issue I foresee is that I have my boot/system drives are on my SCSI HD and I have a IDE HD for storage purposes. Windows setup first idetifies the IDE HD as HD 0 and then my SCSI HDs as HD 1 & 2 respectively. Virtual Machine doesn't have options to specify that type of hardware configuration. I'm going to tinker with the program more Do I need to specify UnattendedInstall="NO" and/or temporary disable my IDE HD by the BIOS so I don't accidently format it?
  7. Thanks...I DID think about running XPCREATE to see what would happen and what questions it would answer. Thanks...
  8. Could you at least point me in the right direction.... I have been reading and reading....but i'm really getting confused. I'm trying to understand too much at once time. Thanks.
  9. You know....once I posted this thread I opened the xpcreate.cmd to take a look and realized that the switches were passed through arguments. . Ok. Lets talk about IE6sp1. I read up and down 2k create and found a lot of entries that created more questions than answers. I have already used IE.EXE and placed IE & IE6GO cab files in the SVC-PRE folder. Here is my question. How do I install it silently with the the standard Type II hotfix switches: /Q:A /R:N. ??? Do I use the CMDFILE.TXT? I'm assuming the cmd batch file automatically does a call function to the txt file. [COMMANDS] ;i don't know what i'm doing here IE.EXE /Q:A /R:N IE6GO.EXE And what about DX9.
  10. How many corners does a wheel have.
  11. I'm looking through a lot of these posts concerning implenting the Hotfixes with XPCREATE. I have a really bad habit of making things harder than it actually is when it comes to programing. Here is my question. I've copied all the hot fixes into their prospective folders. What now?...Do i edit the winnt.sif? cmdlines.txt? what do I need to edit it? How do I implement the switches for the hotfixes? Or does XPCreate does that automatically. Please point me in the right way. <--- Definitely not going koo-koo for Cocoa Puffs!
  12. Thanks. I'll do that and then the stuff I don't understand I'll submit a list of questions of stuff I don't know rather 'henpicking' people full of questions. Thanks
  13. Thanks. what's this about a virtual drive? How do I test the CD without actually installing it on my HD.
  14. Ok. What's the deal about not able to use $OEM$, $DOC$ etc. I'm using W2K. Thanks. Once I get all this figured out I will return the favor of everyone helping me out by writing a guide 'Rednecks Guide to XPCREATE'
  15. Ok guys at one time I was kinda computer savvy. But trying to understand how this XPCREATE works and how to configure the everything is really eluding me. I'm looking at all the posts and I just don't know where to start. I need help. The farthest I've done is extracted the XPCREATE to my hard drive. Thanks.
  16. Does all of this apply to Win2k as well? If not where could you point me so I can slipstream and/or automate the hotfixes, ie6, mp7, etc into my win2k installation...thanks
