  1. I used to be sitting on a RAID 0 in XP, but I was forced to disable it and go dual SATA HDD's instead as Vista refused to detect it. I tried the latest drivers from Nvidia, the older ones and even drivers from DFI homepage but I still got nothing. Vista is supposed to be better then XP, not the other way around! Another thing MS has screwed up..

  2. I tried the takeown method, but I still get the same treatment. Vista doesn't respond if I try to cut the folder out and move it to another location. I used the takeown program to give me permissions to all files inside the folder.

This is really frustrating, is it this hard to change the location of the folder? Man MS hasn't thought this through..

What if I did an reformat and during the setup executed the junction prog. Would that work?

  3. I really appreciate your reply BLeU and that really seems as an really great solution to it, but the thing is that I cannot juction the personal folder because it contains a lot of hidden files, which refuse to be moved. If I try, it just looks like a bug because Vista doesn't respond. If I try to delete them, I get "used file". I don't want to move the entire folder, just the one for my account as I don't care about the rest (I only have one account on my comp). Any ideas on what to do next?

  4. I know I haven't answered in a while now, but that's only because my pal was away and so I couldn't ask him about his problem more exactly. The funny thing was that it went away when he came back.

    PHP? No, nothing I've noticed.

    Any ideas guys?

  5. If you're talking to me, then no. I want to change the location of the "Users" folder, and clearly that won't do it for me. Unless there is a variable that can be added to the environment variables to redirect the user folder. And I don't me the AppData folder.

  6. It has been around in XP and has now spread into Vista. I'm talking about the User folder. The thing that bugs me about this isn't that MS assume that everyone's gonna love the "My Documents" structure so much that they're gonna stick with it, it's the fact that they don't give you the option to pick where you want to keep all the stuff. Sure, you can edit the properties of the personal folders to another location, but it doesn't change the fact that your main user folder will still be on the same place where Windows is installed. What if I don't wanna store all my belongings on the same HDD as Windows? What if I don't like the "Users" or "Documents and Settings" folder and wanna change the location of it? Well, then I'm just gonna have to live with it or edit some settings in the registry.

Well, in XP there was a setting where you could change the location of all your "My ..." folders and store them somewhere else. In Vista, I've done the same thing but the main problem still remaines. I want to change the location of the user folder because it really annoyes the crap out of me when the "(My account name)" shortcut in Start-Menu redirects me to %root%\Users\"Some user name" when I really have all my personal folders on another HDD. Which then means that the folders inside User redirect me to the real place.

Does anyone know I change this redirection using the registry?

    Thanks in advance!

  7. are you using the winbeta aio version?

wont work properly because they change the stucture of the disc

Hm..no kidding? Well, then it's bad news for me too unless there is another way.

And no nuhi I'm not burning with vLite, but with PowerISO.

  8. Hi Guys!

After some really great experience with nLite I couldn't wait to get my hands on vLite. I knew that it wasn't final yet so I VMwared the DVD just to be sure. Now to my problem.

I've removed the following things (see .doc file) and when I try booting up from the cd I get this message:

Can't seem to get what I have done wrong since all I did was to remove some components, but the setup complains about some incorrect folder . I thought that it could be VMware related (as the Vista part is experimental there) so I ran it on my PC just to be sure, but the problem still resides.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  9. I actually thought I found something really great in gpedit, when I realised that it wasn't so great after all. In Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar, there is an option called "Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands". I can't figure out why you'd like to remove the most important commands (shutdown and restart) and leave something unnecessary as "Lock the computer" and "Switch user"? Why not create a policy that removes everything BUT shutdown and restart or even better, one policy for each button. That way we could all pick our favorites. Nice going MS...

  10. The first impression I got was like a really bad cooking recipe:

Take IE6, throw in some firefox functionality and at the top of that, facelift the crap out of it = IE7

It's like most of the new games nowadays: Zero focus on the game experience, which in my opinion is the main priority, and instead a lot of eye candy.

  11. Well, it starts with loading the page, as if it's to huge to be shown right away, but then after a couple of seconds the process meter goes to 100% and the "page cannot be displayed" message shows up. :(

  12. Hi everybody!

I have a little problem, I can't open some internet pages (mostly bank-pages)

I know that the page is not blame because i tried it from different computers and they work.

I've also tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox and the pages can still not be opened. I've opened more bandwith-requiring pages so that can not be the problem as well.

I had this problem some months ago. During a few days I could not open a few pages (f.e. most bank-pages), but then the problem dissapeared by itself, so I forgot about it. But now all of a sudden it's back.

Does anyone know what causes the problem?

    Thanks in advance!
