  1. Odd thing I just noticed is randomnly I log in as a new user and instead of my settings I notice the start menu has switched from classic, added wmplayer11 icons, also wmplayer11 icon in system tray. Also a lot of my desktop icons are missing, it seems as the profile gets corrupted somehow. Any ideas?

  3. Try removing this key from registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\11.0\OUTLOOK\Resiliency
  4. Instead of running sysprep -bmsd to build my mass storage, the 3 machines I had intended on using this image for I took the device ids and such andput them in massstorage. Fo ex. pc\ven_8086&dev_2550&cl_0101=%systemroot\inf\ich6ide.inf (something in that nature) so I have about 6 of those in mass storage and run sysprep and reseal, I then get an error about sysprep not being able to write to the registry. Where did I goof? Thanks!
  5. One thing I just noticed, when I run Outlook and it doesnt import the prf, the ImportPRF registry entry disappears.
  6. Hi all, We operate in an Exchange environment and use Outlook 2003 as our client. All I wanted to do it configure Outlook to automatically configure a new user's profile. So I copy our custom11.PRF to C:\program files\microsoft office and set under default user registry under software\microsoft\office\11.0\outlook\setup and added FirstRun, First-Run, and ImportPRF. Both First Runs were set to 00 on the first lines and ImportPRF pointed towards the location I placed the custom11.prf however when I log in as user who has never been on t he machine it asks me to configure outlook. If I manually enter the settings in current user portion or registry it works fine for that particular user logged in. What else can I do I have been fighting with this thing all day! Thanks!
  7. Hey guys, I have used an image for a IBM T60 to work with both the T60 and T61. However Sysprep seems to be slow, during the networking settings screen where it is installing compenents, the blue status bar reachs what seems to be about 85% and slowly goes to 100% where it sits there for another long period of time until it continues. Any ideas? Thanks!
  8. I do exactly that, however the changes in the registry I have to do under default user as a lot of entries pertain to the user template profile. For example if I got usera to default user and open the registry keys for default user you will find a lot of items pointing towards "c:\documents and settings\usera\......." I take that and change those entries to %userprofile% and there are a few things under HKLM registry entries also pointing. If those changes are not made then when you log on as a new user some items will point to the profile usera instead of the new user profile. Thats the only way I know how to do it so far. So tell my why Microsoft can't make us a utility for all of this?!? BTW, I resolved my problem, actually the profile was not deleted from under user profiles in system properties. Once I removed the user was able to log in with no problems and no roaming profile issues. Thanks though!!
  9. I have built an image, and used a one of our user's accounts as the template. We operate in a law firm and our images contain many customizations. So seemingly I got everything working after copying the profile to default user and going in the registry and changing all "c:\documents and settings\usertemplate" to %userprofile%. Now not everything is pointing to that particular user but instead their own profiles. However when I clean the image up and remove from domain to backup, then readd to domain and test the setup again the user I used to create the default user template can log in but their profile does not create. When I type %userprofile% it takes me to the last user's profile that just logged in. How bizarre? Any experts out there? Thanks!
  10. Its a default company image based on Windows XP Service Pack 2. I checked IBM, Lenovo, and search engines to potentially find anyone with a problem of this nature with no success. I have the latest bios updates, etc running on these machines. I really am at a loss at what this could possibly be, to me it seems as if plug and play service fails and the only way to resolve is a reboot. Thank you again.
  11. Our firm has quite a few Lenovo T60 laptops which are imaged. The problem we run into on random occasions is that the USB does not function. So when we plug in any USB device into the system or the docking station Windows acts as if nothing happened. If we reboot the machine the problem goes away then comes back randomly. We ran into this issue on a desktop as well. Please advise. Thank you guys.
