Hi, I have write some articles about deploying Windows 7 with MDT 2010. It is already on the Technet Forums but I think it can help some french people here
Here are the 4 steps:
1. Déployer Windows 7 avec MDT 2010, Partie 1 - Installation du serveur

The only versions capable of running OCT are Professional Plus and Enterprise volume license versions. MSDN downloads of PP seem to work fine, so I'm wondering if the Technet version is a retail version and not a VL version.
It's ok, I've worked out how to perform automated installs using the Config.xml file.
mind sharing it ?
you can use this post http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/cc179195%28office.14%29.aspx for your config.xml
in MSDN it's the retail Office Pro Plus and there is no admin folder.

extract the package :
VMware-workstation-full-7.0.1.exe /extract "<Folder Name>"
Then install via MSI :
Msiexec /i "vmware workstation.msi" /qn REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS ADDLOCAL=ALL DESKTOPSHORTCUT=1 SERIALNUMBER=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

For sure you can't do that in vmware!

Actually, i did exactly what you suggested me. I put this command in a task sequence instead of letting it in the application list and everything went fine. No more "Ok" to click.
Thank Cluberti!

actually i'm using this command "slmgr.vbs /ato" like an application install but i have to click "OK" when it says activation ok elseif the process stay in stand by to continue.
I will try your way in a task sequence.
Also, it's a Multiple Activation key and i don't use KMS in the infrastructure, is that bad to use this method (I hope not because i already started to deploy Win 7 and activate it this way)?

No, these aren't WAIK-specific settings, they're read by MDT when creating the litetouch media. You must configure the .ini manually.Regarding to this, is it possible to configure all these setting in waik or something that generate xml file instead of use .ini file ?Thank, except the MDT documentation do you know where i can find a good documentation or blog about these 2 files (CustomSettings.ini and Bootstrap.ini.) ?

In the \Control folder in the deployment share you will find 2 .ini files, CustomSettings.ini and Bootstrap.ini. Edit CustomSettings.ini as follows to automate MOST of the MDT settings:
[settings]
Priority=Default
Properties=MyCustomProperty
[Default]
......
Regarding to this, is it possible to configure all these setting in waik or something that generate xml file instead of use .ini file ?

Windows Firewall is good enough but people like to have an icon in systray so they try a lot of firewall software.

As said above. For your language by default it is English you do not have to specify it. once KMP is installed you can just export your registry and if you do not want to do that there is a another manual way. just launch the KMPSetup.exe located in your folder installation you will be able then to choose your preferences

ok then i'll do some test to check that.

Yeah maybe the system is already up to date

Hi, This is something I ask myself. I looked over internet but nothing explicit. How to know if a application is truly a portable Application ?
Does this mean when I execute the application:
- no entries in registry a created ?
- no folder in the %AppData% folder for the application setting are created ?
Is there also a diference betwen a zip package file downloaded and a file downloaded from a Portable application website like example Keepass
From Keepass website
Portable KeePass 1.16 (ZIP Package)
Download this ZIP package and unpack it to your favorite location (USB stick, ...). KeePass runs without any additional installation and won't store any settings outside the application directory
and this one : http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/keepass_portable

You have to export your registry setting for both of them

+1 Windows Firewall do the job correctly. But many people like to have an icon in systray to manage notification.... Or they fell more confortable with an icon in systray.
