  1. and after all this time you haven't observed any sign of burn-in and image quality degradation? good for you, but still I rather turn mine off when it's not in use. "to turn off or not to turn off" is a never ending debate. let's stay on the original topic.
  2. I noticed in regular un-nlited version of windows xp the monitor doesn't turn off automatically in Safe Mode. so it must be a part of windows that has been disabled/removed. the question is which component? I think it's good to have an option to keep this for those who want to save electricity and the life of their monitor.
  3. since I installed a nlited version of windows xp my monitor doesn't turn off at the set time anymore... I used the light preset with a few modifications. current nlite configuration: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=at...st&id=23632 before installing this light version I had a nlited windows with safe preset, and the monitor turned off automatically. I tried enabling all services to see if it has anything to do with a service and also tried all Power Schemes. any help would be appreciated.
  4. thanks for the reply. VSS is most probably cause by disk defragmenter. and the last error might be because of nlite tweak which shuts down hung services/programs I guess I'll just live with it or experiment with another nlite install
  5. yesterday I've installed a nlited windows xp pro sp3. using nlite v1.4.9.1 + SP3 + xable-SP3-UpdatePack-September-v1.0.4a everything seems ok except that I noticed there are about a hundred VSS errors and a few warning in Event Viewer. I have not installed anything except audio/video/Ethernet drivers and firefox. so I'm curious why so many errors (and warnings). here is what happened in Event Viewer: *** first there are a few information messages. then there are the first kind of warnings ***3 information messages then 2nd kind of warnings ***information messages then there are many VSS errors. here is one of them. then there is one occurrence of the 3rd kind of warning in the middle of these many VSS errors please find attached my nlite config file. thanks in advance for any help LAST_SESSION.INI

  8. the folder name says SP1 because it's the label of the CD that it was copied from, but the content of the folder were updated to SP2... here is what I remember I did: -copied Italian xp sp1 cd to hard disk -slipstreamed SP2 and hotfixes listed above (using nlite 1.4.1) -tried to slipstream WMP11 to the updated xp folder and got the error message. unfortunately I don't have any more info because I made a new nlited CD without WMP11 and formatted the computer but I can try to reproduce the error if necessary
