  1. Unfortunately that wont block access to the actual IP address. If you put mydomain.com in the HOST file and redirect it to 127.0.0.1 you wont be able to access mydomain.com, but if you know the know that the ip address is, say, 192.168.0.10, then you could still access the site via the IP address. The hosts file doesn't allow you to redirect IP addresses to the localhost ip so i can't use that.
  2. If you know what files the programs she is using need to acces, just log in as someone with admin rights, right click on the folders/files she needs access to, go to security, and give her read/execute/modify or whatever rights she needs on those files. Sorry its been a while since I've used W2K, but I know its something like that.
  3. Hey guys, Quick question maybe one of you has come across before. Is there a way in windows XP to block access to certain IP Addresses? What I'm looking for is something like the HOSTS file, except that I need to be able to block out sites by IP address rather than just by hostname.
  4. Google cache works wonders on some of those problems
  5. Well after a ton of narrowing it down, this appears to be related to the NoNetHood key in the registry which is used to remove network neighborhood from the desktop. Apparently on NT it also removes network access from explorer, though it is still possible through the command prompt.
  6. Hey Guys, You seem to be a very helpful forum. Hopefully you can help me out here. I'm having a problem connecting to some shares on Windows NT 4.0. The problem is that when trying to access a share by \\computername\sharename from the start>run or from Internet Explorer I get errors. From run I get "Folder not found" and from IE I just get a blank screen. I know these folders are accessable and I can access them without problems if I map them to a drive through windows explorer, and I can also map them manually using the NET USE at the dos prompt. The problem is when I try and access the shares from the IE or the run menu. Any ideas?
