I just noticed you are using Windows 7 while I am on XP. I was using the newer portable versions of Opera and Firefox but they were not working to my satisfaction so in early October I decided to give these "older" versions of Opera and Firefox a try after reading that others were still using these versions over the newer ones. I don't do Facebook or other related sites and I'm happy with these not so complicated "older" versions at this time. They seem fast and not bloated to me but Qt Web v3.8.5 is new and may be the one to use if the other browsers can't handle a certain web page. The older browsers just seem a little less complicated.

Tripredacus ... going to go off topic briefly from what vinifera posted. You mentioned Google and G-mail. I was with Yahoo mail for years then they started changing the simple e-mail program too much and I went G-mail before all the spying stuff came out with Google co-operating with the NSA and whoever else ... I got in without using my real name and such but I get the window when I sign in to provide "more" information ... cell phone number mainly. I want to look for another e-mail client. Maybe one of these days Google will just refuse to let a person get to their e-mail account if you don't provide all the information they want, right now a person can just "sidestep" everything by saying to do it later! Just curious what you and others are using for an e-mail account in today's world. I have been searching around for sometime with various results ... I found one located in Switzerland called Kolab or at least their server is in Switzerland. It is not free and I was hoping for something that might be a good free simple e-mail client that won't be spying or copying everything as Google seems to enjoy doing. This review is from Aug 2013: Why Kolab Might Be the Best Secure Email Service Still Standing http://gizmodo.com/why-kolab-might-be-the-best-secure-email-service-still-1171618005 The digital carnage continues as yet another online service shuts down rather than face NSA scrutiny. Fearing for its email security, the legal site Groklaw shut its doors on Tuesday, but not before offering a very valuable recommendation: An email service that's out of reach of government goons. If you're worried about the spooks reading your email, take Groklaw founder Pamela Jones's advice and check out Kolab. This ten-year-old open source groupware developer is everything that Gmail is not. Its email and calendar services are completely secure, so your private data will never be crawled. That means there's no robot pulling keywords out of your emails to serve you more relevant ads, and in Kolab's own words, your data "can not be accessed by spy programs such as PRISM, so there will be no spying". The fun doesn't stop there. One of the key features of Kolab is the fact that they store all client data on a physical server bank in Switzerland, a country with some of the best privacy laws and data security in the world. Kolab proudly points out on its website that there were only 20 cases of real-time internet wiretapping in Switzerland last year—an amount that's basically negligible compared to the NSA's sweeping surveillance programs in the United States—and Kolab meanwhile received no requests from data during the same time period. Kolab promises never to sell your data but makes everything easily downloadable by you from the organization's servers. There are a couple of downsides and missing features. For one, Kolab doesn't offer end-to-end encryption services which, to be fair, is tough to do for email. (Gmail doesn't offer encryption either.) However, the organization explains in its FAQ that it's chosen not to do server-side encryption is that it's impossible to do so without giving the provider access to the data. They do suggest some email programs like Thunderbird that do support encryption. Another downside is the cost. Kolab's webmail service is not free, although at $10 a month, it's not very expensive either. Really, it all comes down to how you want to protect your data. Now that we know Google's been working with the NSA and other secure email services like Lavabit and Silent Circle have folded to pressure from the NSA, there aren't many options left for secure email. So it might cost you a buck or two and you might have to seek out some features it doesn't offer, but Kolab's email service is one of your best options. Think of it this way: The servers are literally nestled in the safe and neutral mountains of Switzerland. You don't get much more secure than that. ... maybe some others are using a decent e-mail client ... free or pay ... just want some feedback and would like to move on from G-mail. If there are too many replies dealing with e-mail accounts then maybe there should be a separate thread. It is vinifera's post with Youtube. Just wanted to hear your recommendations for an e-mail account or from anyone else.

I had never heard of the Qt Web browser ... just finished downloading and setting it up. I kind of like it so far. It is low on using resources. I use the following browsers with Qt Web browser just added: K-Meleon v1.6.0 beta 2.6 ... mem usage: 46 to 48 MB Firefox Portable v3.6.28 ... mem usage: 45 MB Opera Portable v11.64 ... mem usage: 45 MB Qt Web v3.8.5 ... mem usage: 30 MB Those usage figures can change a little but since I mostly use K-Meleon with several tabs usually open ... I see the usage jump around more on that browser but always close in that range. This is on XP Pro SP3. I usually don't have a problem with web pages or sites (so far) but when I do run into something odd then one of the other browsers will usually work. I am using the Qt Web - Windows stand-alone portable executable version: QtWeb exe (7.5 MB) http://www.qtweb.net/ http://www.qtweb.net/download.html can be copied to CD, USB or other media to be run from directly does NOT create any shortcuts and folders (except for Downloads) does NOT include User Guide, however on-line Help can be used portable version - user profiles not supported, settings and caches stored locally Will see what others have to say on the subject.

OK ... I got an answer from rodocop about the "XPCOM error" with the Dorian version. Posted by: rodocop Date: November 08, 2013 08:25PM The problem of XPCOM is obvious when you make KM your default browser and try to double-click any html-file outside of KM folder. This is a known glitch of KM starting from 1.7 version. As I figured out, almost all bugs of 1.7 alpha are present here in v.74. ..... I haven't tried that solution yet since I use the JamesD 1.6.0 Beta 2.6 version as my "default" browser. I will experiment later but as I mentioned earlier ... I am satisfied with using his version but maybe there will be a better version in the future with more fixes. Rodocop says this in another related disscussion about his newer version in relation to Dorian, "But for future it would be very nice to have both places working, so I believe in Dorian's genius!" ... so he must be "da man" !!! Re: K-Meleon 74beta ENG-RUS (Twin+ legacy) Posted by: rodocop Date: November 08, 2013 08:21PM yes, there are numerous in-built glitches some of them I've described here in forum (in 3 threads). First of all, the new exe is more buggy than first one - so I've returned to the initial Dorian's version. Bug with scrollbar is here from the first time of v74. So I suppose the best way now is to include all chrome parts into omni.ja and use kmeleon.exe from 03.11 not the newer one. Until Dorian recompiles it once again. I have some added unstability while using second version with 2 places for chrome (folder in root directory and packed folder in omni.ja). But for future it would be very nice to have both places working, so I believe in Dorian's genius! ... -

I should have probably been a little more clear in my last post ... I had no problem with the zip part, when I went to open the Dorian KM version I get an error box with the following: Could not initialize XPCOM. Perhaps the GRE is not installed or could not be found. I did find some mention of this over at the KM forum but there was not enough information for me to figure everything out. I will ask for more info at the KM forum. This is the only mention (so far) that I have found dealing with the XPCOM error message that I am getting with the Dorian version. Posted by: rodocop Date: November 07, 2013 08:52AM Clear Data is missing as privacy.dll kplugin wasn't recompiled for new version. James! One feedback point - the KMrestart procedure in new KM sometimes fails - I think this is connected with the path to KM as it gives familiar 1.7's "XPCOM error" that means command is executed not in KM folder. And in SkinSwitch restart NEVER succeedes! So I was forced to remove 'restarttype' call from SkinSwitch macro. What might be done here? .... glad to hear the Twin version by rodocop is working OK for you. As I said earlier ... JamesD uses Windows 7 (32) with his KM v1.6.0 b2.6 but he had also posted that he was hearing that Windows 7 (64) was also working OK with his KM version ... but there can always be an exception I guess with someone's setup. Rodocop incorporates the version by JamesD with the Dorian version and then makes changes or adds his fixes and ideas. So you have three versions in one mix or a person can try all versions separately ... to see what might work best for their setup. They are trying to do what they can to keep K-Meleon working in today's world ... they are not programmers, which they admit, but they seem to be able to figure some things out putting all their ideas together. I guess the programmers have moved on but I still like K-Meleon for speed and that I can "fine tune" or customize it to my liking. I should also add that there are a few other KM version projects around and that others also contribute ideas and fixes. -

Well I tried the KM version by Dorian and it won't open ... getting an error so I will give up for now on that version and try a later one or ask a question at the KM forum if no one else mentions the same problem. Have not tried the version by rodocop yet. I will add that the KM version that I am presently using and seems to work almost 100% for me is the one by JamesD ... K-Meleon v1.6 beta2.6 by JamesD ... if anyone wants to test it out. He uses his version with Windows 7 (32-bit) ... I am using XP Pro SP3. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?1,125050,page=2 Posted by: JamesD Date: July 03, 2013 06:45PM K-Meleon 1.6.0 Beta 2.6 I have collected some new pieces and put them together as a new beta release for K-Meleon 1.6.0. The release is a 7-Zip so users can install in two ways. If you wish to have your profile in the same folder tree as the program, then you only have to make a folder, extract the files in 7z to that folder and run the executable named k-meleon. If you need your profile to be in your %APPDATA% folder then follow the same steps except prior to running k-meleon.exe you should delete the file named profile.ini which has 0 bytes. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1522294/K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2dot6_en-US.7z K-Meleon 1.6.0 beta 2.6 Win 7 (32 bit) -
Rodocop, over at the K-Meleon forum, has introduced a little newer version with some fixes and changes. I have not yet tried it myself but for any K-Meleon fans I make mention of it here. It's a beta version so there will probably be more fixes and changes as people try it out. It may work great for some and not so for others. There is a separate English and Russian download. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?1,125687 K-Meleon 74beta ENG-RUS (Twin+ legacy) Posted by: rodocop Date: November 07, 2013 07:11AM I'm glad to present you my new assembly, built on top of Dorian's new KM. I've tried to fix all that can be fixed and add stuff that works in new KM. There are two files to download - the only difference is the locale set up in omni.ja: K-MeleonE74 has en-US one and K-MeleonR74 - ru one. What is in box? 1) Privoxy web-filter (managed from KM) as replacement for AdBlock Plus 2) Preferential as replacement for plain about:config (that don't work properly) 3) All stuff from JamesD 1.6beta2dot6 including magic SkinSwitcher! 4) Localized Preferences and Mozilla stuff - EN-US and RU locales respectively. 5) Ready settings for 2 skins (AuraAlpha Large and dbTango). Easy setting toolbars as 1-2-3! 6) added some simple and useful kmm-extensions that enhance usability * Open Domain * Open in SameTab * ImageOperations * ImageTab * Carry Session * Clean Redirect * Search Plus * Search Preview * Selection Source * Special Chars and more... 7) added dictionary for Russian and English spelling (spellcheck works partly - it underlines wrong words but cannot suggest variants: this part needs some fix in dll-file) 8) ...to be continued... (as I'll remember something) The news and short annotation (only on Russian at this time) and also download links are placed on The K-Meleon Place Well? I can't leave you without immediate download here! ================================================================= K-Meleon74beta EN and K-meleon74beta RU ================================================================= Try and enjoy! This is the best what could be taken from new KM for now. But we need to fix many things so Let' get ready to rrrrrrrrumble!!!!! _____________________________________ Using K-Meleon-1.6.17db+ / KM-16-S2014 1.6beta2.6 by JamesD _____________________________________ Recommending K-Meleon Twin+`||`Discuss it!!! _____________________________________ New KM74 for test and feedback! Get It! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is also a new K-Meleon version by Dorian out today which rodocop has built his version on as I understand all this. I will also try the Dorian version as I am not familiar with it. There is a download link in his post. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?1,125632,page=2 Re: Anyone still using kmeleon? Posted by: Dorian Date: November 07, 2013 02:23AM You can get a little update - English chrome - added kmeleon chrome using flat files (easier for now to work on) - added favorites and jsbridge plugin - fixed javascript prompt @rodocop 64 bits or not I don't think it makes a difference, anyways it's built with winxp. Some websites only check the version number for compatiblity. With "k-meleon 2.0" they complain you must update your brower, but they are happy with "k-meleon 10.0". So, k-meleon 74 will be fine for a while ... For the history viewer, I think the one in firefox could be adapted. EDIT: Updated to add a fixed bookmark plugin

Diminutive Device to Detect Drones Hovering Overhead
Monroe replied to Monroe's topic in General Discussion
Found some information when the Navy lost control of the drone over D.C. airspace in 2010. Navy Drone Violated Washington Airspace http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/26/us/26drone.html August 25, 2010 WASHINGTON — The skies over the nation’s capital are crowded with presidential aircraft, military flyovers and the Delta shuttle, but this month a strange new bird was briefly among them: a United States Navy drone that wandered into the restricted airspace around Washington before operators could stop it. Navy spokesmen could not say Wednesday if anyone on the ground was alarmed by the drone — officially an MQ-8B Fire Scout Vertical Takeoff and Landing unmanned aerial vehicle — which looks like a small windowless helicopter and was flying at 2,000 feet. The Navy did say that the drone got within 40 miles of Washington before operators were able to re-establish communication and guide it back to its base in southern Maryland. Still, the Aug. 2 incident resulted in the grounding of all six of the Navy’s Fire Scouts as well as an inquiry into what went wrong. The Navy is calling the problem a “software issue” that foiled the drone’s operators. Or, as Cmdr. Danny Hernandez, a Navy spokesman, put it: “When they lose contact with the Fire Scout, there’s a program that’s supposed to have it immediately return to the airfield to land safely. That did not happen as planned.” Navy spokesmen said the Fire Scout, made by Northrop Grumman, was a little more than an hour into a test flight operating out of Naval Air Station Patuxent River on the Chesapeake Bay when operators lost its control link. The drone then flew 23 miles on a north-by-northwest course to enter Washington’s restricted airspace. A half-hour later, Navy spokesmen said, operators re-established control and the drone landed safely back at Patuxent. The Navy did not describe the scene inside the ground control station as operators sought to re-establish communication with the drone. The Fire Scout, about 31 feet long and 10 feet high, is a surveillance aircraft that can take off from Navy warships. In April, a Fire Scout was part of a drug arrest in the waters off Central America. According to the Navy, the Fire Scout relayed video of a suspicious fishing vessel to the Coast Guard and law enforcement officials, who moved in and seized 60 kilos of cocaine. -

Thanks for the drone article link ... that's an interesting story about how easy it is to hack a drone (at that time anyway ... that story is from 2010) ... the U.S. Navy helicopter seems to have failed on everything ... this part of the article: "To make matters worse, the drone failed to execute software instructions that would have forced it to return to its base. " Can't find out what happened to the "stray" drone ... did they destroy it or finally get it to return to the base? You have to subscribe to read the rest of the article ... or did I miss another link? Drone news has sort of dried up compared to the earlier part of the year. -
Ok, I have been behind the times and am throwing my tin foil hat away after I post this. I will be getting some Velostat as soon as possible. It seems to offer much more protection from what I'm reading. I particulary like the comment from Steve6375 : steve6375 where can I buy this Velostat in the UK, I am sick and tired of being abducted by aliens (usually when I am coming back from the pub)? P.S. Will it prevent the wife from reading my mind too? ... It's always like that.

As you said, news is a bit old but after 1 1/2 years ... wonder how that drone plan is coming along? ... maybe ( with funds available) just launch a satellite ... any country or person can launch their own satellite, can't they??? The "big boys" (countries) can't legally stop someone from doing that, can they? ... of course, I guess they could shoot it down with a missile (by accident of course!) and apologize for it having gone off course. Even with old news there can be something of value ... that little mention of the Kingdom of Sealand, I think I may have heard about it once but can't say for sure ... The Register warns that the site (Pirate Bay) once planned to station servers on the Kingdom of Sealand - a fort in the North Sea. A plan that never came to fruition. Principality of Sealand The Principality of Sealand is an unrecognised entity, located on HM Fort Roughs, a former Second World War Maunsell Sea Fort in the North Sea 13 kilometres (7 nmi) off the coast of Suffolk, England, United Kingdom. Since 1967 the facility has been occupied by family and associates of Paddy Roy Bates, who claim that it is an independent sovereign state. Bates seized it from a group of pirate radio broadcasters in 1967 with the intention of setting up his own station at the site. He established Sealand as a nation in 1975 with the writing of a constitution and establishment of other national symbols. Bates moved to mainland Essex when he became elderly, naming his son Michael regent. Bates died in 2012 at the age of 91. While it has been described as the world's smallest nation, or a micronation, Sealand is not currently officially recognised by any established sovereign state. ... I also think the possibilty of light bulbs that can "spy" may already be in use and that wearing a "tin foil hat" may be our only defense!

mitchsc ... no problem, I am always in "learning mode" ... maybe today I don't have this or that problem but tomorrow it shows up. It was a good find on your part and I see it was 'pinned" by a moderator for anyone in the future looking for a solution. ...
-
mitchsc ... thanks for posting about that other forum with the solution. I have never noticed any problems on my XP setup but I have XP SP3 with IE8 installed. It looks like the October updates for the various Internet Explorer versions have corrected or fixed the situation so it shouldn't be a problem going forward, but who knows for sure. I read all the pages in the thread, very interesting reading. I have had memory use maybe go crazy twice in the last 6 months but it doesn't happen repeatedly so I was never sure what the cause was ... I would just reboot and it was fixed but I am always experimenting with newly discovered software programs to see if I really might want them so it may be some of those that cause a problem on XP sometimes. ...

ROTS ... that's the first I've heard of that, I can still go to the local McDonalds with my computer, plug it in and get something to eat and use the Wi-Fi. Maybe that will change in the future but if people at least make a purchase of "something", even some Dollar Menu items, that ought to keep management happy ... but who can say.
-
I don't know if this is good or bad ... should be good right ? ... but now you have to wonder if a simple light bulb might be collecting information or spying on you. Chinese Scientists Invent Lightbulbs That Emit Wi-Fi October 18, 2013 http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2013/10/chinese-scientists-invent-lightbulbs-that-emit-wi-fi/ Leslie Horn A group of Chinese scientists at Shanghai’s Fudan University have a bright idea: A lightbulb that produces its own Wi-Fi signal. According to Xinhua, the technology is called Li-Fi, and the prototype actually works better than the average connection in China. As many as four computers placed near a Li-Fi bulb can connect to the net, using light frequencies rather than the usual radio waves. The bulb is embedded with a microchip that produces a signal, yielding rates as fast as 150 mbps—far faster than typical connection speeds in China, and about three times faster than the speed I’m getting right now. (Seriously, I just did a speed test.) One of the perks of Li-Fi is that it’s affordable. Have a lightbulb and a Li-Fi kit? Boom—you have internet. Next month, researchers are showing off 10 sample kits at a trade show in China, and the country is moving in a direction that could make Li-Fi a practical and commercially viable asset—especially since, as Xinhua reports, Chinese people are quickly replacing old fashioned incandescent bulbs with LEDs. Of course, there are still a few technical details—mostly dealing with microchip design and manufacturing—that would need to fall into place before Li-Fi becomes ubiquitous. So for now, Li-Fi remains an experiment with a bright future. ...

How about this ... it was so nice when I got my first computer in 1998 ... it was before all of the spying, stealing personal and financial information and all the other "negatives" that have developed. Maybe we could still trust Google, Yahoo and other sites back then ... there was no Facebook and the other stuff that was soon to come along ... it was kind of a nice time for me ... learning about my "new" computer and enjoying the internet with all the information and conveniences it had to offer. The "digital world" was truly great and it was great experience for me. So now we have to check the back of a cash register for a little piece of purple plastic which of course most of us won't be able to do ... what's the next surprise ??? New security threat: Cash register skimmers 16 Oct 2013 http://www.cnbc.com/id/101115205 Crooks who steal credit and debit card numbers have found a devious new way to snag this information. They're using a small, relatively cheap piece of off-the-shelf technology to compromise computerized store cash registers. We know about this because a band of brazen thieves was caught on security cameras installing these high-tech skimmers on cash registers at the Nordstrom store in Aventura, Fla., two weeks ago. The skimmers are built into standard Ps2 cable connectors that plug into the back of a computer where customers can't see them. They're only about an inch long—and look so innocuous that even if employees saw them they might not suspect anything. "It's a little piece of plastic, usually purple, that fits into the port where your keyboard connects to your computer," said security analyst Brian Krebs, who first reported this story on his KrebsOnSecurity blog. "It intercepts any data that is sent on that communication channel, whether it's keystrokes or somebody swiping a card through a terminal." Ps2 keystroke loggers have been available for years. They sell for as little as $40 and are marketed as "professional surveillance products." Krebs said this is the first time he's ever heard of them being used to skim card information from a retailer. Nordstrom confirmed that it had found and removed "unauthorized devices on a small number of cash registers" at its Aventura store. ... More info at the link.

Yes I also thought that it seemed kind of slow but I don't know enough about flash drives to make that statement ... but the figures struck me as being slow. sure does look similar to the Apricorn Aegis ... never heard of that one.

This is not the "smallest flash drive" around but they advertise it as the "world's best flash drive" being safe and secure. Since this thread deals with flash drives, thought I'd post about this drive. Anyone familiar with it or take issue with their claim? Aerospace Company Develops Drone That Can Fly Continuously For 5 Years October 7, 2013 http://lasvegas.cbslocal.com/2013/10/07/aerospace-company-develops-drone-that-can-fly-continuously-for-5-years/ MORIARTY, N.M. (CBS Las Vegas) — An aerospace company has presented its design “atmospheric satellites” that fly at 65,000 feet and provide drone-like services such as live-mapping and monitoring narcotics trafficking. Titan Aerospace recently offered the Solara series of such drones: which can fly continuously for nearly five years, charging its own battery high above commercial aircraft through the use of solar power. The larger Solara will be 60 meters wide and have the ability to carry about 250 pounds. Cruising speed for the Solara is about 65 mph, and the unmanned craft will have an operating range of over 2.8 million miles. ... more information at the link. -
Just wanted to add that Windows XP use "may" be much higher than being reported. In my case I use Proxomitron around 99% of the time as I go around the internet ... using the Sidki filter set. I have Windows XP installed but when Proxomitron is active web sites see me as having Windows 7 installed. I also use K-Meleon 1.6.0 beta 2.6 by JamesD ... which by the way he uses with Windows 7 (32 bit). Anyway, I have K-Meleon set as a Firefox Portable User Agent so I show these readings with Proxomitron on or active: Browser logo Firefox 17.0.9.9 run on logo Windows 7 ... with Proxomitron on "Bypass" I show these readings to a website: Browser logo Firefox 17.0 run on logo Windows XP The Sidki filter set will show Windows 7 in use when I'm online, even when I was still using Windows 98SE early last year. I also have other User Agents installed that can show any OS installed ... like Safari or Windows 8 but just getting back to Proxomitron. Just the computers still having XP installed but running Proxomitron with the popular Sidki filter set installed would be showing Windows 7 to every site they visit ... so it's possible that XP is actually on many more computers around the world than being reported. Just don't have a real idea how many that might be, could anybody ... would have to be a wild guess, this may also make the numbers for Windows 98SE totally different. Proxomitron site: http://prxbx.com/forums/ Proxomitron - Sidki page: http://prxbx.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=44 If anyone is interested in the new version of K-Meleon by JamesD which was released a few months ago and being used on Windows 7 or XP ... ... The link is there for the new KM version download, not sure if this permitted, it's a good link to that download version but a moderator can have the final say. Posted by: JamesD Date: July 03, 2013 06:45PM K-Meleon 1.6.0 Beta 2.6 I have collected some new pieces and put them together as a new beta release for K-Meleon 1.6.0. The release is a 7-Zip so users can install in two ways. If you wish to have your profile in the same folder tree as the program, then you only have to make a folder, extract the files in 7z to that folder and run the executable named k-meleon. If you need your profile to be in your %APPDATA% folder then follow the same steps except prior to running k-meleon.exe you should delete the file named profile.ini which has 0 bytes. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1522294/K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2dot6_en-US.7z K-Meleon 1.6.0 beta 2.6 Win 7 (32 bit) Is K-Meleon Dead ? http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?1,125050,page=2 just to add, I just noticed further down in the thread "Is K-Meleon Dead ?" there is a post by guenter where he says that K-Meleon will work with Windows 7 (64 bit): Posted by: guenter Date: July 15, 2013 11:14PM 1.6 will work on Windows 7 / 64 bit. But make sure that You have writing rights to the Instalation & Profiles folders. If needed grant them manually. If K-Meleon does not load web content - a firewall or other security device prevents it from access to the net. In Your case it sounds like K-Meleon has the right to start but not the right to enter the net. That is enough English answer & easier to type German & esyer to be more verbose in my native language 4 me. Mit welcher Fehlermeldung stürtzt er ab? Mäno. Das ist wichtig. ... in case anyone would want to experiment with KM to see for themselves ... I'm sure it will not be 100% but it might be good enough for a 2nd browser to have handy. I mostly use KM but when I occasionally hit a web site with problems then I have Firefox Portable ESR or Opera or IE 8 to fall back on. Also ... someone can maybe clear this up, that has more knowledge than myself on the subject ... can a website still tell exactly what OS I have installed regardless of what a User Agent or Proxomitron might report? ... but in general would most websites just count what ever Proxomitron or a UA would be reporting?

Perhaps the Most Expensive New / Used DVD Ever ?

... I see from my first post that the "most expensive" DVD ever is no longer listed as for sale ... only the used price of $99,999.99 is still there. Hot Springs Hotel: The Complete Series (1995) Rated: Unrated | Format: DVD Available from these sellers. 1 used from $99,999.99 http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Springs-Hotel-Complete/dp/B002F3BPTU/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1380488155&sr=1-1&keywords=hot+springs+hotel Well for anyone just reading this thread now ... there really was a DVD listed there as "new" going for $176,468.15 ... maybe it sold at a lower price, maybe it never existed, who knows. Anyone that has a copy of the Hot Springs Hotel (1995) set may still have something of value. -

ROTS ... Ok, I understand better now, the comma between Zero, Zero threw me ... I only saw Zero as one word. You didn't give a date for the film ... is this the film you are talking about? Zero Zero (1983) TV Movie - 42 min - 1983 (Australia) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445850/ It says TV movie ... may have seen it one time on cable, not sure. I didn't check Youtube for any clips, sometime people put a whole film on there ... it will be in sections or parts but at least a person has something till finding something better. -

ROTS ... I'm a bit confused on what you were saying in your earlier post ... spent some time late yesterday checking out what you posted. You say "I think the CD box set of Zero, Zero is the most expensive. It is around 200+ and 89leer??? I have been searching for this for a long time. It is one of those futuristic films ( made for TV ), like 1984, or THX but Eurotrash style. Simular to the world of Dune in a sense. "Cult" ( Charles Manson types ) from the 1960's and so forth. I want to hear the score so badly, but it is not so popular." I am assuming you meant DVD instead of CD and the only mention of a film that I can find of a film called "Zero" is a Polish film from 2009 called "Zero" ... not for sale on Amazon USA or UK. Zero (2009) 110 min - Action | Drama - 23 October 2009 (Poland) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1519661/ There is a short trailer on Youtube with some music from the film playing, if I have the right film. Zero (2009) trailer I couldn't get the link to appear correctly ... but it's there. This web site from Poland has info ... http://www.filmweb.pl/film/Zero-2009-478499 Seems to be a hard film to locate but maybe somewhere in Europe there might be a copy available. also found this site ... Ah yes, the "famous" million dollar +++ book for sale on Amazon. Heard about it last year ... interesting things on Amazon! Actually, when I was younger I did have a bug, insect collection but I didn't properly prepare some of them and a "fungus" pretty much destroyed most of my collection !!! ... -

Yes Tripredacus you are right about Amazon prices ... for instance I can not find anything on why that particular DVD "Out of Bounds" was so high priced except for one small mention last year somewhere on the internet ... I just searched around and can no longer find the mention ... but it basically said the dvd had been produced by a company that did not have permission to make or release that particular dvd product. I can't be sure that I actually have that same dvd or that is really the reason the dvd has such a higher value. Just nothing to be found on the subject ... the "Out of Bounds" dvd cover of the higher priced one is much nicer than the cheaper $8 to $10 dvd product. Out Of Bounds [2003] [DVD] ... higher priced version http://www.amazon.co.uk/Out-Bounds-Anthony-Michael-Hall/dp/B0002K117E/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1380549882&sr=1-1&keywords=out+of+bounds cheaper version ... Out of Bounds (2004) Sophia Myles (Actor), Merlin Ward (Director) | Rated: NR | Format: DVD Price: $8.99 & FREE Shipping on orders over $25. Only 1 left in stock. http://www.amazon.com/Out-Bounds-Sophia-Myles/dp/B0001Z4PSC/ref=sr_1_4?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1380551194&sr=1-4&keywords=Out+of+Bounds but as you say, some prices seem for real and I'm afraid the TV show "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World" ... all three seasons ... is for real unless there is a re-issue in the future. I was going to get it last year but kept putting it off. At least I grabbed the first two seasons before the jump in price. Another great show from the 1950's was "Sea Hunt" ... they give credit for people wanting to suddenly go scuba diving when it hit TV ... a whole new business started ... scuba shops, charters, instructors. They just released four seasons and Amazon was selling them at $12.99 each in April ... and the prices have started to slowly increase ... no telling how many sets were issued but I got mine at $12.99.
