I'm making an unattended XP and I'm using a .cmd file wiht this command: bootcfg /raw /id 1 "/fastdetect /noexecute=AlwaysOff" But after installation when I look in the boot.ini file - it looks like this: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /noexecute=Alwaysoff There is an extra gap between the ... XP Professional" and /fastdetect ... Does it matter?

Hi, can anybody tell me, what should I do, to add this in registry for all users, if I use the function RunOnce in nlite?: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Associations] "LowRiskFileTypes"=".exe" Or is there any better way, then change the Registry using .reg file and loging in every user account separately?

Hi John, yes, I doubt too perhaps it is a problem with my CD drive (firmware) But I've found solution - maybe usefull for someone - set all folders on details - "use for all" - and then set only in folder "My computer" e.g. "icons" So you keep "details" in all folders, except "my computer", and it's O.K. If I set Windows Explorer folder view on "details" and everytime I insetr a CD or DVD, then the Windows Explorer freezes, or is restarted. Perhaps it's a bug in Windows XP? or in nLite?

Hi, i have nlited XP home with SP3 and there is a problem. I have 4 users and when I get into the login screen I can when I click first on any account login without password. But when I logout and try to login again, or login in other account, then it asks me for password. There is no password, so I only click on the arrow on the rihgt and it logins. I have tried to change things in control userpasswords2, but the result was, that one account logins without loginscreen directly. Is there any resolution?

I have been wondering about, why is not possible to paste any sound into my documents created by Power Point - there was only the possiblility to paste wav - uncompressed files. I have tried to install alternative runtimes instead of the whole wmp (wmlite240), but there was no change. So I have been forced to install the whole wmp10 to make this run. I want to ask - could there be any possibility in future versions of nlite, to remove unneeded parts of the wmp, and retain only the codecs, or core?

for example - why nlite doesn't square up with the oembios files? - these very slowes down the start up of the system ...

Windows XP modified by nlite are quite stable and adjusted to needs of specific user XPlite can remove more things e. g. explorer shell (- to use alternative shell) and tinyXP is processed "before and also after" - so it is even more smaller and "tidy" so - what are your experiences?

Shell services - only audio CD autorun? - perhaps it is not so important ... (It is a strange thing, but flash disk works properly too ...) O. For example: autorun of CD works (except autorun of audio CD ...), but the needed service in services.msc = Shell Hardware Detection = is not showed there. So I think - something is wrong with displaying of services in services.msc, but the services are still working?

I'm 100 % sure, I didn't order to remove: Remote Procedure Call Locator Shell Hardware Detection Workstation NT LM Security Support Provider but they have been removed - they are not present in the services.msc (Windows XP - SP2 integration, no hotfixes, no drivers integration, Czech language)

It would be very nice, if I can remove print drivers, but retain PrimoPdf - It would save about 30 MB.

Thans hulkviper, I used to have Everest now I use Belarc Advisor - it shows me also hotfixes I need acording to M$ buletin, but the question is - how to extract the drivers from my "running" windows, or find the names of the drivers it's the same. I can easily find drivers (using the program Dualdriver) for: grafic card - nv4_disp.ini, nv4_disp.dll, nv4_mini.sys (geforce2 - my hardware is really old :-) - thanks nlite it works well) sound card - wdma_cwr.inf, cwrwdm.sys Wi-fi - wlanCIG.inf, wlanCIG.sys (Btw.: It's my internet connection - It's a czech speciality - 60% wi-fi connections in EU is in czech :-) thanks our beloved monopol of the former Czech Telecom :-) ) Btw. it's not signed by M$ - I have this driver (for wi-fi card on a CD but I'm not sure, if I will integrate it by nlite - whether there will not some reports during windows installation - which "destroy" my unattended mode) ...but that's all - for example the printers - I have a printer dated to 1999 :-) and the driver is only in the windows install, the manufacturer (HP) does't offer this driver anymore. But I'm not able to find out, what files in my system are used by it. And speak nothing of pdf print support issue ... (30 MB saved by removing printer drivers - it's a pity) Also I'm not able to find out what files in my system are used by chipset (VIA). Perhaps drivers used by processor, disks, cd, monitor, ... - they are same for all types of these devices? (for example - machine.inf, disk.inf, flpydisk.inf) I speculate about to remove all drivers, that nlite offers to remove and then install all devices from my original Windows CD - but it's a bit uncomfortable. You said: most drivers you can download include a separate folder with only driver files, with no additional software. Check inf file what files are copied, then you can include only driver files. - but if I've tried to separate only driver files (e. g. for my grafic card I need nv4_disp.ini, nv4_disp.dll, nv4_mini.sys) it gave me an error ... I think the inf file is different from the one in Windows - there are probably links to the conrol panel, ... and I'm not able to edit this inf file and delete it. Maybe you are able, I'm not.

Btw. - judging by Nuhi - it's useful to delete unused drivers (to influence size of driver.cab, sp2.cab) - I have asked in some former topic - how to extract drivers from my instalation - just drivers I need for my old hardware - there is no reason to download some new drivers from internet - drivers in WinXP SP2 are very well compatible eachother, and there are no unwanted control panels etc. Have you any tips?

I'm in doubt too, if this recipe is always useful. But especially in our coutry - there are many computers with old hardware, but just the CD device is relatively new :-) (to upgrade for DVD burning). You have to compare.

It's suitable for a slower computer. I have foud on some webpage a good tip, how to even more accelerate your instalation of Win XP. The point is that you decompress the files of the system, before you burn them on instalation CD. Then during instalation process the files are just copied, instead of being also decompressed. Just execute the cmd, go to (e. g.) C:\...\i386 (where is source created by nlite), and enter "step by step" : expand -r *._ expand -r *.?_ expand -r *.??_ del *._ del *.?_ del *.??_ The content of the install CD will be a little bigger, but you perhaps have got some space by using nlite :-) I'm aware, there are other possibilities - e. g. to burn image of new installed Windows. But instalation CD made using this recipe is usable on whatever computer, not only on the one, where was made the image.

P. S. - can I someways recognize during adjusting of the nlite - on the hotfixes integration page - whether some hotfix will integrate, or will only later install (perhaps all hotfixes should be integrated, if I don't use any newer, than the version of nlite, or ...) ?

So, if I will integrate some hotfix and by mistake also some older one, which was replaced by the newer one, will the nlite integrate properly only the newest?
