  1. After using vLite to remove lots of components, i have mounted the install.wim and there are lots of empty folders in program files

    Internet Explorer

    Windows Calendar

    Windows Defender

    Windows Mail

    Windows Media Player

    Windows NT

    Windows Photo Gallery

    Windows Sidebar

There are folders within them but there also empty... i've tried deleteing them after taking ownership of them but it still wont let me delete them :( any suggestions?

    Thanks

  2. Ok, recently i've decided to move to OpenSource software, but for some programs i dont know a alternative so here is what i have so far...

    ">" = i now use

    "?????" = need an alternative

    Internet Explorer > Firefox 3 Beta 5

    Adobe Reader > Foxit Reader

    Office > OpenOffice

    Visual Studio 2008 > Sharp Develop 3.0

    WinRAR > 7zip

    Nero 8 > InfraRecorder

    ConvertXtoDVD > ?????

    iTunes > SharePod 3.8.0

Thats all i can think of for now, please name some good alternatives which are free and small but very effective i.e. Foxit. Thanks

  3. Hello, just mentioned not to try and install IE8 although for some people it might work, but for it me it didnt it... it reverted back its seetings and since then i cannot run Visual Studio 2008, Device Manager, Services.msc, etc.. basically saying i need internet explorer 5.5 or later. They did work before i tried installing IE8. Thanks for listening :)

EDIT: However i did remove IE and keep Microsoft HTML engine. :P

    "#1 Posted by ( posts) at 31 Mar 2008 - 15:21" isnt it meant to say "#1 Posted by Legolash2o (1013 posts) at 31 Mar 2008 - 15:21"

  6. When slipstreamed, the size grows bigger by ~500MB. Normal?

Yes because the WIM image is storing the new SP1 files aswell as the original RTM files for the versions of vista you have not updated yet, if you have updated them then do a "Rebuild All" to see if that helps :)

  7. I have the hex software required and have i a copy of tcpip.sys from my install ready for patching. I just need to know how to patch the file myself because im getting alot of 4226 errors. A guide or any useful information would be great :)

    Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x64

    Thanks in advance
