  1. Hmm works fine for me :) but BlakByte is having the same problem.. i'll upload my preset and his preset with a screenshot of his error.

I was using Ultimate x64 SP1 RC - works fine... on VMWare too.

BlakByte is using "Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3, v.3282" - doesn't work on VMWare

He then tried preset and he got the error again, even tho i didnt get any errors whatever when i did it

The first time it was fvevol.sys

    Second time it was volmgrx.sys

    Third time it was fvevol.sys

  2. I Agree with what nuhi said :)

Updated, thx louie and sp00f. Also a new article has been found which is today :) but there are more articles appearing about what microsoft thinks about it, when they clearly have not used vLite at all lol

  4. If you add IE7 after SP3 it will overwrite some of the files for SP3, thus rendering the install useless

Yep, i got missing files errors n reboot loop after textmode copying files (not always the same error)

I have read that SP3 have updated files for both IE6 and IE7, and will install those files depending on which version you have installed.

Yep thats true which is why you integrate IE7 first and SP3 updates it otherwise ur replacing newer files with older files.

Haven't tried WMP11, so you'll have to find out :)

  5. on the second pic the manual install was ticked, so it should of removed it... Just incase you didnt know your meant to select the compoenents you want to remove not the ones you want to keep lol so whatever is ticked it will remove :)

  6. "You are Slackware Linux.

You are the brightest among your peers, but are often mistaken as insane. Your elegant solutions to problems often take a little longer, but require much less effort to complete."

  7. I am having the same problem with Vista x64 - IE7 (32bit).. whenever i try and type more than 2 characters in the box it just crashes and on this install i hardly removed anything  This is the first time i have seen this error and remove the same stuff (but as i said i removed alot less on this install than usual).

"Table Driven Text Input Processor" is the only thing new that ive removed as well as using the IE7 tweaks too.

  8. Awesome! No issues with UAC this time round, but I have noticed I still get a bug with the language settings, like in the RC version... if I specify the language and keyboard settings in the unattended setup tab (I use the United Kingdom settings) then Vista decides to use Welsh as the defaults once it's installed  If you leave the regional settings as Prompt instead of specifying though, it works fine and welsh doesn't appear.

Worked fine in vlite1.1beta2 though, so I dunno whether its caused by removing one of the new features or not!

I have the same problem lol, first noticed it in 1.1 RC

  9. Read here

Also be careful with the Storage Controller removals, if you remove the driver for your particular hard disk controller it will not be able to see the drives on the bootup. But as a precaution, or even a better alternative, put a new hard disk controller driver in the subfolder inside the folder from which the ISO will be made and then you can even remove all the drivers and provide it with that folder once it asks for a driver on first boot.

You can also use an USB flash for that just in case it doesn't see the DVD drive from which it booted from, if such thing is even possible any more, saw it in the early VMWare versions. I noticed that my ICH9R controller is loaded even if I remove the Intel driver, probably because my SATA is set in BIOS to IDE mode.

Driver integration still does not support the textmode drivers, the ones like these hard disk controllers for bootup. Waited to remove them first, well since that happened next thing in todo is textmode driver integration, at least folder copy to the ISO for manual load if the full integration is not possible without the MS tools.

  10. [DO NOT POST BUGS OR QUESTIONS IN THIS TOPIC, THIS IS ONLY A GUIDE, MAKE A NEW TOPIC INSTEAD]

This is all i can think of so far, so if anyone wants something or feels like something should be added/changed, etc.. then let me know.

    Hey

There are many reasons for creating this guide... here are a few of them.

    1. Answers can already be found using the search function at the bottom of the vlite forum page.

    2. Sometimes people do not include the correct/enough information for people to help and most of the time people asked to upload the last sessions.

Please note that a problem/bug etc... is NOT always to do with vlite, and might actually be Vista itself. Also please read the >Forum Rules< before posting, thanks.

    1. The Wonderful Story of the Search Feature

Once upon a time there was a box, this was no ordinary box, it was..... Anyways not sure if everyone is aware of it but just letting you know that there is a search box at the bottom of the vlite forum page, using this instead of posting a new topic may save you time rather than you making a new topic and someone else linking you to another when you could of saved hours n found it yourself. If you have used search and still couldn't find it then you can make a new topic. Thanks :D

    2. Not enough or missing info

    a. After vlited, basically after ISO creation/burning.

Something common is that not enough information is given to us, no i am not saying write loads and loads of pages... something simple like an "Last session.inf".

What is a "Last Session.inf" you ask?

This is also known as a preset. It contains the information of what you have done with vlite/nlite, so there is no need to post pictures of what you did. It can be located in 3 places

    1. Your vlited vista dvd root folder

    2. "X:\Program Files\vlite\presets" (or x64 its "X:\Program Files (x86)\vlite\presets)", if using nLite look for "nLite" instead of vLite.

    3. "X:\Windows\Setup" Folder

    where X is your OS.

Once you have located you preset attach it, please do not copy n paste everything inside it, just attach it using the attachment tools.

The Last session is not always needed but please attach it anyway (if you cant find it then no worries), the last seesion alone is not good enough so please write down some more information like describe what you did to get the error i.e. I started my game n it got "Blah blah blah" error message or i got "Cannot do this/that" during installation. Also tell us when it happened i.e. Completing installation stage of setup.

    b. During the use of vlite

Sometimes the problem is with vlite itself so there would be no last session. For example it may crash after clicking apply, so print screens would be helpful, the error number/details, exactly what you did, where did it crash and so fourth.

    3. F.A.Q - Frequanty Asked Questions (Do not ask questions in this post please)

Can vLite be used to integrate Addons?

Nope. vLite does not support addons yet althought it does support Hotfixes, Drivers and Langauge Packs. One is planned for the future though, so it'll be worth the wait. :D

Can vLite integrate Vista Service Pack 1?

Yes (v1.1.6 Beta or later). It will only work if you are using an untouched version of Vista RTM which has not been edited by vLite or any other app. Pre-integrated SP1 is preferred though.

Can i install Vista Service Pack 1 on a vLite'd install?

Nope, you will receive errors messages, when the SP1 installer detects something missing it aborts. Bets option is to get a preintegrated Vista Disk.

Update: Windows Vista SP1 will not appear on Windows Update when you have used vlite, this was blocked on purpose. Read here for more info...

Can i still receive updates from Windows Updates using vLite'd install?

Yes! Windows Updates will only show updats for the components left, if you have removed Windows Defender you wont get definition updates or if you ahev removed Windows Media Player or IE you wont get updates for them either, etc... Remeber Vista SP1 will not appear though.

    -End- (so far)

Please include as much information as you can, again not asking for pages and pages of information.
