  1. I am new to wpi and I have searched the forums for what i think is a pretty simple question. I have used "post $oem$" rar from the wpi homepage and included this with my xp install. but what i am trying to figure out is how can i make wpi automatically run the install packages(no timer or button/mouse clicking). I am trying to run completely unattended installs. any help as always will be greatly appreciated. THanks.
  2. Guys/Gals I have tried every option and scenario. including disabling sfc but still the same. also tried just slipstreaming sp3, ie7, and wmp11 nothing elso, no hotfixes no options changed. what I have found out is that wmp11 wont break if you use rc1 or 2 of sp3. and booogys awesome slipstreamer honestly if you look at version numbers and sizes they are almost identical to final and I have had the rc2 installed on a working machine for about two months and havent had any problems. I have been trying to get a list of fixes that are in sp3 so that I can see if there were any changes between the rc's and the final. If anyone here nows or has access to the lists let us know. I hoped this helped anyone out there. let me know what happens. lastly no one addressed my IE7 issue. has anyone been having that problem
  3. Hello folks, I have been trying to use nlite to slipstream ie7,mp11, and the final release of sp3(which i dl'd from the link posted at msfn on the home page. and I keep getting startup/install errors. first ie7 doesnt integrate and I get an mp11 error which i have a screenshot of that I have attached. I have tried many different options, even the complete defaults(not changing anything). now if i use one of the rc versions of sp3 I dont really have any problems just the mp error which i posted a screenshot of but upon final boot everything seems ok. so i dont know what changed in the final release or am i doing something wrong here. THANKS, thanks as always.
  4. Kelsenellenelvian, U arent kidding about this being a vigorous process. The more i do research the more i realize that the rabbit/worm hole is never ending. UUuuggghhh, what have i done. . Kelsenellenelvian. I also have just started messing around with what looks like your baby. wpi. looks interesting and something that should keep me up till the wee hours of the morning trying to perfect(lol). thanks for the insight on the specific updates i will check out ryan vm. But i think once i get the hang of wpi & runonce, i am going to use it to install .net and some other stuff. anyway thanks for the help and the great program lastly...by the time i have all this pefected everyone will probably be moving over to vista or the next ver (which is right around the corner-2009 i think). and guess what.....the madness will start all over again.
  5. Are U kidding me that it is that simple. So (lol. here I go overdoing/overthinking it again) what about say for example-services for unix updates, direct x updates, msxml, .net 1, 2, 3. all this is included in sp3. I am just being OCD about it because i have been doing some much research and you just get to the point where you just want to get it right because you worked so hard at it. So If you guys think im crazy and what i wrote above is wrong also, then i am going to slipstream xp sp3, mp11, and IE7 and be done with it. lastly does anyone know if microsoft has got the sp3 list of hotfixes up yet? Thanks Again guys/gals for putting up with my questions.
  6. I have a question that has got me real confused. I searched the forums and could not find the exact answer that i am looking for. the question is long winded so I think if i bullet the issues that would be easier, so here I go: 1. I use multiple programs and websites to download hotfixes for xp(windows update downloader, Ryan VM, Offline Update, Microsofts website). which inherently creates many duplicates but also from my research fills holes. 2. I want to use Nlite to integrate all of the above Hotfixes/Ryan VM Pack's. But I am unsure if Nlite can differentiate and know what to overwrite between KB Hotfixes and the Ryan VM Packs. I am sorting by build date just to let you know. If there is a need to do something different to make sure that nlite overwrites and integrates the most up to date files, let me know 3. I have done some initial testing and it doesnt seem like I am getting a very good result. For example I slipstreamed SP3 and then chose all critcal post sp2 KB fixes & Ryan VM Pack and then started nlite. I never got prompted if i want to replace/overwrite older/newer files(like I have been prompted in the past). Wouldnt the above example prompt many overwrites as sp3 should have all these fixes integrated. In Closing. All i am trying to do is make sure that I have a full and completely update version of windows XP . So someone please help, i have been doing so much research on the sp3 release, and the additional hotfixes i need to add(dx, media player, .net, etc) and i keep getting conflicting opinions. so I decided that i should go straight to the source to get the answers i need. I know this was long winded so if any clarification is needed please let me know. Thanks, Thanks, thanks a lot for the help.
  7. Hey Guys/gals THANKS a bunch. I have a one last question but i will post it to the NLite forums, as it has to do with slipstreaming and overwriting the duplicate files. so again THANKS
  8. actually what i am trying to figure out is that if i slipstream SP3 then do i have to also slipstream all non-os updates(IE7, dx,media player, .net, etc.). im not talking about the ones that will come after sp3 im talking about the ones between sp2 and sp3. thanks again
  9. THANKS for the fast response. but that leads me to another question. If i slipstream something that has already been added in a service pack will this create a problem? THanks again in advance for the help.
  10. Hello guys/gals. I have been lurking here for quite a long time. i really never need to ask a question since it seems like they have always been answered already. but know i have one that i believe needs answering. I want to slipstream sp3 or sp2 it doesnt matter the question applies to either. I have used offline update to collate all the hotfixes and my question is what is included in the sp's. is it just critical/security and operating system(the hotfixes that start with "windows kb......")OR are the .net, media player, ie7, direct x fixes included. basically i want to know if i slipstream a service pack, for instance sp3, do i need to slipstream these xtra updates or are they included(the ones that r up to that point). This question seems confusing so please let me know if i need to clarify anything. Thanks, thanks and more thanks.
  11. Sorry If this was posted further back in this forum( I went back 5pages). Anyway question is: I read thru some of the multi OS DIsc stuff and just wondered if Using MAGIC ISO doesnt streamline this process and if it does are u sacrificing the ability to tweak the individual OS's. Thanks and just wanted to add That this is a great forum
