  1. Hi! I have to upgrade an MSDE instance to SQL Express 2005 programatically. When I run SQLEXPR.exe /qb UPGRADE=ALL INSTANCENAME=INSTNAME, the setup exits with exit code 0, so it claims that the process ended successfully, but the instance doesn't get upgraded (installer returns almost immediately after the prerequisite checks). If I run it without /qb, I find that I have to select the component to be upgraded manually on the screen you find here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc966393.aspx Under "To perform an in-place upgrade from MSDE to SQL Server 2005 Express" step 7. Is there a command line switch to fix this problem? If not, is there any other way to upgrade an MSDE instance? Thanks
  2. Right click on your vLite icon on the desktop and choose properties. You can see a Target text box with text something like this: "C:\Program Files\vLite\vLite.exe" Modify this to: "C:\Program Files\vLite\vLite.exe -extreme" or "C:\Program Files\vLite\vLite.exe" -extreme I'm not sure which is the correct
  3. Thanks for your reply. I don't think I'll try this nowadays, but maybe in summer, I don't have such amount of time now.
  4. Hi! I've got a notebook with pre-installed Vista. Exactly with a hidden partition, which can be booted with a special button, and the system boots in recovery mode from there, and that's the place where I can start a new install too. That doesn't ask for a serial number and it's ultimate, so it would be great to make a lite version of that, but as I saw, its directory stucture completely differs from the one I see on an original install disc, I don't find a similar subfolder either. As I remember, it contains some pre installed applications too. Would it be possible to make a Lite version from that?
  5. Hi, I set up a multi-boot system, XP32 and Vista 64. On XP, I use my hard drive in AHCI mode, but in Vista I couldn't install the drivers for that mode. The Intel Matrix Storage manager setup contains the drivers for the RAID and AHCI mode, but the setup exits with an error if the SATA handling is in IDE mode. On XP, if I set it to RAID mode, I can install the drivers, and on the next boot, when I set it to AHCI mode, it worked fine, but on Vista the system restarts without any warning or error message in the beginning of the system loading screen if the SATA mode is not IDE, so I must install the drivers, but - as I wrote - it don't works in IDE mode. I know that I could install the drivers from a floppy at the beginning of the system installation, but I don't have a floppy drive. I read the driver's readme, and the setup can extract the drivers, but I can't add to the system. In the readme there is an installation method, but I don't understand that. It told that I should make an UNATTEND.TXT file, but it don't tell me what to do with that file. I attach the driver readme to this post. So, I need a description about adding drivers to Vista. Thanks readme.txt
