Getting the best out of an ati radeon hd 3200 laptop (hp pavilion dv7-
jca2007 replied to jca2007's topic in Hardware Hangout
I am not familiar with replacing video cards on laptops as well as processors but I know I can on Desktop computers. So would I be able to replace my video card on this Laptop? I can't find out any information from HP about this.... -
I have hp pavilion dv7-1240us 8gb ram, ati radeon hd 3200 not sure if I can upgrade the graphics of my laptop and AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-72 @ 2.10ghz and 320gb hdd Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with an external usb 1tb hard drive. I upgraded the ram myself with Patriot 2x 4gb sticks Patriot Signature CL6 4GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Laptop Memory Model PSD24G8002S found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220382 My question is what can I do to get the best performance out of my graphics? I have noticed I can't run higher end games like LOTR Online, which isn't really that high end of graphics but It gets laggy and I can't play. I thought 8gb of ram would help that. I can play Star Wars Galaxies Online and Civilization IV just fine. I have the latest ATI Graphics. Should I download Optimized Graphics to get better performance or is my Video Card just Sh177Y? Would it do good trying to upgrade the processor or is there any kind of optimizations I can do? I have the Catalyst Control Panel options on max. I also have 10mb cable in my barracks room.

Cluberti, Thanks. I did the diagnostic startup from msconfig and it worked fine. So I disabled alot of non microsoft services first to see if it could have been anything and it seems to be working fine now. The only thing that irritates me is I don't know exactly which service could have caused it...... Thanks though.

I have windows vista 64bit home premium. When I try to open up applications, close them, open something within everything freezes. I can use control alt delete but can only log off and log back in normally again until I open something and freezes, or reebot, shutdown what have you. I mean anything I try to open freezes. The start menu. I can get it to open but if I try to open a program from it, it freezes. I did a chkdsk run on my hard drive, it's good. Scanned for viruses and spyware that's good. I can not use system restore or open task manager to see if anything is wrong. I have opened the device manager but I don't seem to have any compatibility issues. Everything is up to date from widnows update. I am not sure what it is but I have a grey globe shape icon with grids on the icon on my bottom right bar. I can open firefox/IE and surf the web though..... Doesn't make sense. I am using an HP Pavilion DV7 Laptop with 4gb ram, onboard hd ati graphics. Anyone have a solution? Never encountered this before. Thanks.

I recently bought a Linksys WMP110 Wireless Adapter it took three or four uninstall/reinstalls to get Vista to accept the drivers. It was working great for a while. I turn the computer on today and Vista 32 bit it saying it has a problem with the drivers and can not install. I have tried installing, and reinstalling and I am now having the same problems. The website site from Linksys says that the product does not support Windows Vista. However the box it came in says it does. The only drivers I can find for it are 1.0 from the linksys website that came out in 4/something/2008. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance.

Our engineers have been notified about this error and are working to resolve it. I can not login. This only happens on my computer I have no idea how to fix this issue. I can access it from others computers or the public library. Odd..... Does anyone have a fix for this? Maybe something is wrong with my ip? I have no idea. Thanks in advance. I have went to blogger's forum, and submit the error in weeks ago but still nothing back.

I am currently trying to run Sword of the New World, however I get an X-Trap error. X-Trap is an anti-cheat client for the game. This is What I get: Code_Field {02-0300-00000000-063} Some functions provided by operating system are not working properly. I am running windows vista 32bit home premium. 4gig ram, 400gb hdd, Nvidia Geforce 8800gts 320mb video card, on board sigmatel audio. Dell XPS Dimension 410 gaming system. Help would be appreciated. I can't figure out if its something to do with my hosts file in system32 or if its a vista problem, or its something like Spy Bot S&D. Or if there is a certain service I need to re-enable.

Getting Error when I try to launch COD 4 Multi-player
jca2007 replied to jca2007's topic in Gamers Hangout
The game can't recognize if a jackplug is plugged in or not, so it's strange that the game would work if you plug in your speakers into the microphone port, as the two have nothing to do with each other. To me it sounds like your sound card drivers need updating or are corrupted. Reinstall those for a start. Once reinstalled, if it still doesn't work, you can try to reinstall the game. Make sure that your sound card is properly configured in your operating system as well as in your game. Kill all applications which are running while you're playing the game, as one of the other applications might try to use your sound card; just to make sure. Well I have done all of the above. The activision's website say that this is a glitch/error or something like that on alot of on-board sound cards. They say its fixed. However its not. And most of the fixes for it, does not work. -

Also, I plugged the speakers into the mic jack, and then the multiplayer works, but there is no sound when I plug it back into the speaker jack. -

In Half Life 2: Episode 2 I get a crashing error everytime as I go under some stairs into the room where there are two hunters and a scientist shooting at the hunters and a rebel on the ground getting beat to death by the hunters. Every time I move for or start shooting at the enemy my game crashes back to desktop. The only thing I can think of is I updated my graphics card and played the game afterwards which then is where it started. I updated my 8800GT 320 mb to the new 169.12 beta drivers. Was working fine with the 169.09. But I wanted to update. I also have 4gig ram, 3gig readable as I am running on Windows Vista 32bit, and Core 2 Duo 6700. Vista gives me this error information: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: hl2.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 470c11ae Fault Module Name: client.dll Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 470bb8b3 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00208f3f OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fd00 Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Additional Information 3: fd00 Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160

Lets just say I downloaded a torrent(I hope im allowed to say this, if not sorry.) I thought it was a windows update file for vista. Now I am constantly getting a Interactive Services Dialog Detection box popping up ever 5 seconds after I close it. It has an option to show me the message, when I click on it, brings up another window, because it says it has to display in its own window, and has IE adds that pop up when I click the Show me the message option. Does anyone know if this is some kind of virus/trojan/spyware? I ran a virus scanner, and spybot search&destroy, and ad-aware 2007, but it doesn't find anything.
