  1. Yeah, I installed SP2 and ever since it's been using the V5. If I go to the V4 version it just redirects me.
  2. Ok, I've been noticing some very strange things with the Windows Update site lately, and I'm wondering if it's just me. For a while I kept on getting re-directed back and forth from http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/V5co...er/default.aspx? & then http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/V5co...t.aspx?ln=en-us Now all I get is sent to a page that is http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/V5co...px?ThanksPage=7 which is just blank. Anybody have a clue??
  3. I think the only problem you may have is once they login locally rather than on the domain is that it creates a new folder under Documents and Settings. All you would have to do is copy those files over from the domain folder to the local one.
  4. I want to include a bunch of fonts I have in my unattenced XP cd. I know how to copy the fonts to the Fonts directory, but am not sure of how to get them into the registry. Anybody have an idea? I was thinking of pasting the names into a text file and then having a .bat refer to it but am not sure how. Any suggestions?
  5. I so agree that 98 sucks, but it's not my comp. I work for a company that does network administration at different sites I can't put 2000 on until I setup a clone with sysprep worked on and all that. This can take a while to do right, so for know we just need the machine up and running. I'll probably just do that backup. That's the downfall of old OS's, they just don't match up network wise like 2000 and XP.
  6. Yeah, I looked at that, it doesn't really help, thanks though.
  7. Ok, I'm moving a machine at one of my sites from it's old workgroup to a new domain we setup. The problem is that the machine has both client for microsoft networks and windows logon turned on. I'm afraid if I take out the windows logon the users will lose their stored data their. Does anybody know where the users profiles are stored on 98?
  8. I would make it if I knew how. Never done it before.
  9. It depends. What are you using, Cat 5 or wireless. Are you using a hub, if so is it a 10 or 100 speed. There's alot of things that could be causing your problem. It could be your NIC's (Network cards) or your cables.

    gpedit.msc

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it out tonight
  11. I cant remember but I think W98 has netmeeting on it. If not just install netmeeting on your machines, set it so that they will accept a call from the other machines, and control their desktop that way. I do this on my machine running XP to my laptop top that is :wail: Windows ME :wail: That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head, or just get Devil's Own

    gpedit.msc

I was playing with gpedit the other day and kind of screwed some stuff up ::mirco:: and was wondering if there is like a restore defaults or something like that. I couldn't find anything but then again I'm brain dead. Any suggestions?
  13. I really recommend a site like that to people who are wanting to build their first pc. I wish I had done some research before buying some of my components. Oh well, I guess people can learn from their mistakes.
