  1. I have a compaq presario 2500, which has enough horsepower for my daily tasks. But lately windows start to fail me and I need to do a format and reinstall. The bad news is that the OEM/restore WinXP HOME cd is gone and not microsoft, ether HP will help me (microsoft says for the OEM licenses the corresponding companies are responsible and the company says the machine is toooo old and there are no WinXP recovery disks available) Does anyone knows if I can use a different method, like making an unantedded cd with my serial? or any other solution? Sorry if this post is under wrong category!!! Thank You
  2. Thanks for the replies. I was out for easter so as soon as i try a few thinks i'll write you back. thnks for the replies. I will also read the thread you've posted
  3. As all of you know the WinXP delivered with notebooks include various unwanted programs that usually slow down your machine. So I wanted to build my own WinXP instalattion CD. But the partition that the installation files are located is loced, protected, hidden, and i do not know what else. I managed to copy the files using total commander to another partition, but when i used nlite to slip down the installation i got error. Something about the attributes of the files. Any clues on how i can use the files? And another question is the installation let me choose from installing WinXP with English menus or Greek menus ( I prefer English). Is there a way to usse the apropriate files for English installation? Thanks in advance P.S. i also include a pdf file from total commander that shows the structure of the d: drive, the hidden partition. I can send the full dirrectory but it is like 33 pages. D_drive_dirrectory.pdf
  4. Dear McTavish you got that right...2k3 doesn't recognise winXP installation. I even delete the partition from the 2k3 boot cd did everything from scratch and again the same problem. But then again 1. where i can find the ntldr of 2k3 and if i replace the ntldr winxp with the ntldr win2k3 will i be able to boot into winXP if any problem occures? I also did a fixmbr from my original WinXP cd (again the winxp i have installed is nlited, as for the win2k3) by the way thnks for the advise on the boot.ini Hoping for fast repliesj
  5. I used a nlite version of 2k3 to do a dual boot PC on a winxp preinstalled system. i have one primary partition with winxp, works great. Try then to add to partition 2 win2k3, nlite version, without the restore option (i entered at boot.ini the appropriate path and the boot load manager shows the correct path). After the initial install (blue screen), from boot manager i select win2k3 to finish the installation but nothing happens. Just a black screen with nothing to show. The partition is the correct cause when i change to something eelse it states that /windows/* is missing P.S. the second partition is NTFS, extended/logical partition. P.S.2 unanteded win2k3 with no addons...and enterprise edition. P.S.3 this is my boot loader: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /noexecute=alwaysoff /usepmtimer multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 2003" /fastdetect Any clues or solutions? Sorry for my bad English (i suck at grammar)
  6. hmmm i did this but then although i could write in greek there was no way for to switch languages (alt-shift), although it is enabled at regional/language settings... Anyway.
  7. Currently i'm using windows xp sp2 with multilanguage support, and installed Greek language. In my institute i came across a 2003 server edition but only US version. My question is if after installing the 2003, will be able to install Greek language support, as a registry adittion and file copy into the windows folder. I believe there was for WINT4 or 2000pro a language file in the cd that had an exe file capable of installing suplementary languages. Any clue on 2003? thnks
  8. hmmm sounds like you-know-what-the-problem-is . No offence there. Anyway. about Ati ccc 6.10 any suggestions on how i can incoporate the drivers in winxp (there are 3 componets i think there, the WDM drivers the ccc and another think i don't seem to recall). Any clues on that? To test the cabs i create...is there a way of doing it without incorportate them? Thank you in advance
  9. nice detailed easy quick responce chears i try for the rest, and give them a shot. For OOO i allow you to have the honours. THNKS MATE
  10. What i need is : Open Office 2.0.4 (or the latest build with multilanguage support, as Greek, mostly) - Bitcomet 0.76 - Daemon tools - Ati CCC 6.10 - AVS media 2.2 - Segrund's PIXIA - PDFcreator (again with support for Greek, cannot remember if is prebuild) I think that's all....to long list I cannot find them in the forums, or i missed them by accident (sorry). I have every other program i want and they work like charm. Is there any package that will allow me to intergrate those in the nlite distribution (for Win XP SP2). How can i prepare them by myself, if the first option is unavailable? (with full support as if i was doing a normal install) I'm realy n00b I realy will apreciate any help. Thanks people and hope that i have requested for programs that other people also need in their installations. Also those are excellent FREE programs and some open source.
