That's what I did, and it worked. PS. I presume you mean changing the BIOS settings and not actually swapping controllers around. My BIOS has an option of enabling/disabling SATA native mode on my controller so the drives looks like an IDE drive to Windows.

Also try CentOS, it's a free clone of RedHat Enterprise. Debian is another good one, it's what Ubuntu is based on.

This is how I did it. Fresh install of Windows 2008 Standard. Added role "Web Server" making sure to select the FTP components. Went into "Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager, started FTP service. From remote PC: start, run, cmd ftp myserversipaddress username, anonymous password, blank That's the basics, you will need to setup user accounts with passwords if you want to control access as well as setting file level security with the accounts you create.

RDP client is working better for me, I can now connect to clients I couldn't before without tweaking networking. Also, RDP remembers the domain and username you last used to connect to a specific server.

I'm not sure which is your exact model is, if it's a notebook then there will be a sticker on the bottom that has your serial number and part number on it. Hard to tell without knowing what PC it is. You would have the same problem adding a second hard drive. Have you played around with the compatibility settings of your program? Right click on the shortcut and go to properties. There is a compatibility tab.

You need to put your SATA drivers on a floppy disk. When Windows starts up you have to press F6 (I think) to load additional drivers. Or you can use nLite to slipstream the files directly into the XP.

The Unattended guide does say that you can install it using svcpack.inf. I think I will install it using RunOnceEx. Thanks for your help.

Really weird, after the first startup of Windows. I installed VMWARE tools and restarted the VM and ran Windows update again. Now it is saying that is doesn't need a patch? I will reinstall the OS again just to confirm though. Update - No, looks like automatic update installed the patch for me. So I still need help with this.

Yes, the wmp10 install is right at the top of the svcpack.inf file, and then all the hotfixes are in order, smallest number first to the last number.

I'm busy setting up a basic unattended CD for now. I've downloaded all the MS hotfixes and have manually added them into the SVCPACK.INF file. I've also added in the MSFN copy of WMP10. Everything works fine and all the hotfixes get installed, but when I go to the Windows Update page, I get told that I still need hotfix 917734 even though it's installed in Add/Remove programs and is definitely in the SVCPACK.INF file (btw, it's a WMP10 hotfix). :angrym: What gives?
