  1. ARGH! Help! The latest batch of patch tuesday for windows 8 have arrived and it's been nothing but trouble! For the most part manually downloading did solve my problem but not for the love of god of trying and I still getting stuck with a 80070020 message. I tried the solutions even tried repairing windows update but alas no luck so far Was going to include an attachment but I getting a SQL error EDIT: The particulair update is KB2785094 and keeps getting stuck at 15% Then failing. Every other update before that was failing too but fixed most of them
  2. I've stuffed up. How can you get it back to the default view? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but had no luck This is the default view: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=windows+live+mail+2011&hl=en&qscrl=1&nord=1&rlz=1T4GGHP_en-GBGB444GB444&biw=1920&bih=868&tbm=isch&tbnid=5eUpcozwcWswDM:&imgrefurl=http://www.softpedia.com/progScreenshots/Windows-Live-Mail-Screenshot-75178.html&docid=LT28dunrtTDMkM&imgurl=http://i1-win.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Windows-Live-Mail_1.png&w=853&h=768&ei=iricTtueEcjLswbp8ti9CQ&zoom=1 This is mine (I know there's no mail or what not in there but I accidently deleted all my accounts on it as I thought that would work..........it didn't)
  3. Can you download that manually? I do windows update all the time so I am sure I wouldn't have missed it.............. EDIT: Seem to have it as I know it updates ie to 9.0.1 and I have 9.0.1 installed and it's still doing it................
  4. This has really been bugging me since last night I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling ie9 and the same thing is still happening. I've tried to atach a screenshot but can't get it any smaller than 524K
  5. I knew that existed but couldn't figure the name. lol. That's a start What about Drivers? Intergrating driver packs or whatever? What would be my best option there?
  6. Hey. Long time no post. I'm just wondering what my best options would be? I'm looking to install XP With SP3 intergrated. (I have Genuine keys from my MSDN Subscription that I would use) I also have the CD downloaded from technet itself. What I want to do though is install but sliupstream the post sp3 updates and if poss too? Slipstream drivers to make my life a hell of a lot easier! lol. What would be my best options to download and what not?
  7. I didn't get anywhere last night (purely as she had stuff to do) but what I did? On my virtual machine I deleted the oobe folder from windows/system32 (on my virtual machine) and replaced it with a copy to test it and it seemed to work OK. That's what i'm gonna try. I'll try and let y'all know how it went down.
  8. That program's interesting. I'll definety get her to download that for sure. I created a virtual machine. I wonder if I could replace the files that are possibly damaged/non working on her system with my own? I mean the actual msoobe file and so forth?
  9. Here's a bit of an odd 1. I'm trying to get a sysrtem activated for the other half (she's got a genuine key) she's trying to get XP Pro with SP3 activated and all that good money. Now the weird thing is whenever she types oobe/msoobe /a in the run prompt or clicks on activate windows? she's unable to see the blue screen for activating. Nothing appears. She managed to validate windows OK but can't activate and she's getting a 60 days prompt. I can't get any screenshots or anything as she's like 5000 miles away from me (very long distance relationship) and I can't exactly go and have a look at it for her. Would be good if anybody knew what to do here.
  10. LOL. So true. The only prob i've got now well I reformatted my HD for a start but due to E: being hidden that's obviously safe and was untouched. The repair my PC option now just boots me into windows normally without giving me access to the possible recovery option but still I've worked out how to as I said get it up and running. Not totally 100% but at least I have the knowledge to restart totally if I'm ever stuck in the future.
  11. Thanks to Dell. I've fixed my problem by myself. http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/1900...9.aspx#19126869 I read the imagex part and in the end I went into the command prompt via the windows DVD and altered that line to my image in my e folder. I'm now restoring my system to as it was when I started wednesday. I am a happy bunny.
  12. OK thanks to your links and following instructions on that site jackz I've got the option to repair my computer again via F8 startup (not sure if I should have used a SP1 image as the recovery is all SP1 and I have a home premium DVD without SP1) Now when I type recover though I get recover filename path I think it was. As far as I know my winRE partition is E drive.
  13. I'm downloading the WAIK image file as I speak. (still 2 hours to go) and I'll definety look at they threads in a bit. Just to add too I didn't do a full reformat (booted into my hard disk via ERD 2008 and deleted certain folders) I reinstalled after that though. Never reaprtitioned or anything like that.
  14. I've got a Vista DVD. Home premium (even if it's pre service pack 1) There's a number for zoostorm on the universal website so I'll give them a call on monday and take it from there. Don't get me wrong the system's great so far but the option for easy recovery in the future would be brilliant and a lot less time consuming.
  15. This should be the correct link? www.greatuniversal.com/rf/gus/p.do?...&SNu=pca_id The manufacturer's website is: http://www.zoostorm.com (Be advised though it's not helpful as the site still says coming soon) I'll expand a bit more. I wanted to restore my system back to default. I have a winRE section on my hard disk. The sheet of paper says clearly after the initial switch on (i.e. first screen) after that when it's saying boot from CD or whatever you should press F8 and you should have a list of options coming up on screen and top option should be "Repair my PC" But I don't have that. I can only see safe mode, safe mode with command prompt etc etc. I think I might have to use something called winPE or WAIK? but I looked up the instructions last night and it seems complicated. I managed to restore my system with a original vista home premium disk (which I found down the side of my bed) but it is genuine. Would save me a lot of trouble in future if I could get my option back.
  16. Was wondering if anybody could help me with this 1. I've made a slight oopsie with a new system and want to restore to previous vista install. No biggie. According to the piece of paper I got in front of me it says that at startup I should be able to press F8 and see a menu called advanced options with a option to repair my PC but I can't see that option? I only see the safe mode, safe ode with command prompt and all of that. I'm pretty sure I have a vista restore partition infact I know as I saw it on there the other day. It's a zoostorm system. This 1 as it happens:
  17. Only thing I need to get working with my vista BUT.............well it's not working. Can't seem to find any drivers at all.........maybe somebody's got a workaround method?
  18. Hopefully I can be helped out. Made a slight oopsie I think. Whenever I try to get to Microsoft update I get this error: 0x80245003 I think it was partly my fault as I decided to try and install the vista version on XP (don't ask) Can I remove things manually and start from scratch again or is it another XP reinstall.
  19. I've tried a few things and it's found nothing. I guess it's the old reinstall coming up again. Not a big thing......due a clean out anyway.
  20. I'll scan with adaware. That would be a start Got a Norton on disk somewhere I'll dig that out, install that see if I get any luck there either. Noticed a few weird things on startup via msconfig I didn't look the like of so I've disabled them.
  21. OK for a while now when trying to download something say from Microsoft windows for XP take this for example: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en (windows defender beta 2) When I click on the continue button I get this message: Thank you for taking part in genuine Windows validation. Validating will enable you to receive your download now and quickly access other downloads and additional benefits in the future. To complete the validation process, we need you to provide some additional information. Please click Continue to complete the validation process. I press continue to obviously continue Then I get this: Validation Incomplete: Internet Connection Problem [0x80080293] Why didn’t my machine complete validation? Your validation may not have succeeded due to the following Internet connection issue. The Windows Genuine Advantage Tool requires Internet access and is unable to communicate with the Microsoft validation servers. Don't understand how that can be. I have a windows media player 11 install on my hard drive I've managed to download from microsoft (and that doesn't need that validation thing) when I press the validate button during installation it passes absolutely fine. I'm stumped.
  22. Enable48BitLBA (see link in my sig below) Just 1 more question (sooner this gets answered the sooner I can go to work and give it a shot) How do I install that? I realise I have to do it in DOS mode so I would assume instakk 98 first and do something in real DOS mode? Assume that would mean copying and pasting that using command prompt? To what folder?
  23. Only 4 CD Drives purely as I have daemon tools installed. The wireless card I believe is the RTS2500USB. Soundcard I'll investigate. Also my 2 drives are 149 and 148GB.......will I need anything special?
  24. Hi folks. Hoping somebody can easily take me through an installation of 98SE. I've downloaded so far the unofficial service pack and updates from this page: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#98SE I got some info about my system using sifost sandra which I've included down below. My BIG concern is for my wireless net as I fear it might not work. Anything else recommended I download?
