thanks but i tried JetAudio and it did not pick up the soundcard either i really miss being able to record from my sound card and am open to any suggestions.

i used Audio Cleaning Lab by Magix all the time when i was using XP and it will run but will not record from the soundcard anymore and that is what i used it for most. i have tried several other sound recording programs and i have had no luck recording from the soundcard. just curious if anyone else has this need and if they have found anything that works. thanks

one thing i am starting to really enjoy on this is that the sounds are much softer and when i unplug an external hard drive it doesnt sound like i just broke something. the same for all the other standard sounds like receiving email in outlook etc...
-
thanks for the info. i knew someone would have had it running by now and i was just curious of your opinions. i wasnt able to get to it yet but i hope to today.
-
well without going into detail on that i was just assuming i would see some opinions or change info on here.

has anyone tested to see if this works in RC2? thanks -
this is what i have been waiting for. the following is a description of what i did to sync my motorola Q but i am going to assume it will work for the rest of the WM5 devices. 1. open regedit 2. navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft" 3. create a new key named "WHOS" 4. connect your device 5. go to M$ update and check for new updates 6. you will see a new 7mb update available for Windows Mobile Device Center 7. choose download and install 8. be very patient and dont mess around with your device or windows because you might loose explorer etc.. but if you wait it out your happiness will begin shortly (it took nearly 15 minutes on my machine to finish) and when it was over i had no explorer but i did a ctr/alt/delete then logged off and back on again and the sync icon was in my taskbar and everything is syncing perfectly. i must say this is so much better than activesync and i am glad i no longer have to contemplate going back to XP just for syncing. enjoy ! ...

so does anyone here have any idea when i will be able to sync my WM5 device with outlook in vista? i find it very annoying that i am using windows on my pc and pda and can not sync the most valuable information. the reason for my pda is to keep my info from outlook up to date on my pda so i can take it with me on the road. i know you can sync music and pictures and get into the filesystem but i would trade that in a second for outlook. thanks
-
well i guess my question has been answered i was hoping i wasnt stuck with RC1 until next year. mainly because i dont know how much longer i can keep entering info on my PDA and in outlook. i really need the sync with outlook option for my pda. ...

so will i be able to "purchase " a key to activate a RTM version next month or will it only be available to a select group till "whenever"? Thanks
-
so if i am using RC1 5600 do you see any reason i should take the time to upgrade? if RTM is expected for next month will my key i have been using work with it? if no then what is next? thanks

the funny thing is that roxio 8 works for all the things i need it for but roxio 9 which is being advertised by roxio as vista ready does not even load anything but drag to disc (wehich i dont want anyway).

thanks for you response. i was hoping that there would be something already ou there that works with vista to record sound from the soundcard. i could not even get the built in soundrecorder in accessories on vista to record anything.

i use a program call " audio cleaning lab" by magix all the time on my pc to record anything playing and then cut it up etc... to make like ringtones or whatever. i have used this program for years and really dont want to live without but here is my problem. i have not been able to get anything to pick up sound playing from say the web through my browser. in xp it was as easy as going to sound properties and turning up the wave volume control and then sound recorder or magix would record whatever was playing through my soundcard. i have not been able to get anything not even the built in sound recorder to capture sound from whatever is playing through my sound card and i have tried everything i can think of in vista to make this work. any help would be greatly appreciated. whether it is a program that you know works in vista or a fix to my current problem. ...

well there is an upadate available from microsoft update for my wifi card but i have always stayed away from those in the past due to a few problems i had years ago. i always get the recommended updates but leave the hardware updates to my manufacturer of my devices. in your opinion should i try the updated driver?

has anyone else had a problem connecting to a new network when you change locations. for example if i am on my wifi network at home and then do not power down my laptop and drive to work i get to work and vista does not see any available networks at all even though there are 4 or 5 that should be found. if i restart the pc it connects automatically to my work network that it could not see at all before i re-booted the pc. thanks for any help
-
well i did all of that and it didnt work at first but everything is working now after a restart thanks for the info

thanks for the link but this fix only enables links to be opened in explorer and i am a loyal firefox user. i guess i should have mentioned that in my first post.
-
sorry to bump this but having to copy and paste all the links i get at work everyday is driving me crazy and i am really hoping someone might have an idea to fix this? thanks

i am very satisfied with RC1. i realize that there will be some improvements but i dont plan to ever go back to XP and RC1 is much better than any of the previous beta's. speed and reliability is excellent. i have not had a single problem and almost all the software i need has worked. i found this list helpful even though it is a little dated.

i am luving vista but having a hard time with all the user account restrictions. i am running RC1 and when i click on a link in an outlook email i get " This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator " i have 2 questions 1. how can i fix this so i can go to the links in my emails? 2. is there a way to make me restrictions free and just open my user/sean up to full access of everything? thanks for any help.
