  1. I have "inherited" several 1 TB drives that "lived" in an old video server. Every one I have tried to format comes up saying the drive is password protected and I need to enter the password (which I don't have). I tried 3 different pcs, and all display the same message. All I want to do is reformat the drives for use in other pcs. Does anyone have any ideas??? I'm runnin' out of things to try. Jim E. Drives are Seagate ST3400633AS BARRACUDA 7200 rpm or equiv.
  2. I am transferring files from a Win XP machine to a Win 7 machine with the following columns needed to show up in Windows Explorer. Name, Subject, Title, Author, Date Modified, File size. Once they copy to the Win 7 PC the Subject, Title,& Author fields do not display, even though I have the columns set up for them. I would like to maake this work in Win 7. Any ideas??? Also, If I open a shared folder on my Win XP PC from the Win 7 PC , it will NOT show the above columns, although they show up fine in Windows Explorer in XP. Does anyone know if one of the Windows Explorer "alternatives" might accomplish this??? Thanks for your help. Jimet
  3. I'm using Nlite and have set up an install with SP3 slipstreamed. When I go to Microsoft to check for updates it will NOT install KB915865 (IE7 update) says it needs it, downloads, but won't install. I tried not adding IE7 to the install and installed after boot-up. This worked when I went to Microsoft update, KB915865 installed fine. Any ideas??
  4. I have a workable unattended CD created and wanted to find out if it's possible to copy the CD to a USB drive and make it install from there. Most of the new PC's I'll be setting up for my company can boot to a removable device, but I haven't tried this yet. Has anyone tried this??? Jim E.
  5. I get the error Installation failed. D\I386\asms. Error message The parameter is incorrect Fatal error After checking the forum I see that asms error usually is a bad burn. I copied the XPCD folder to another machine and burned it there and have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas???
