Hello! I guess this could be done via GPO but is there an alternative way I could add a reg entry to every new pc we build? I guess I could include it in the images I use but that only works for new builds not the exisiting kit. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its ok, I got it. You just add the first 4 digits not the whole machine type code.

Hi, I'm just setting this up and want to add the relevant machine types as required. Kind of stuck however as I don't seem to be inputting the machine type correctly. I'm entering the value as its shown on the laptop or tower etc (6889-sgc) or whatever but the format appears to be wrong. anyone been here? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I was looking for a recommendation for a 2 port KVN that will work with a laptop and desktop configuration. I have a Belkin switch at the moment but it wont work when my laptop and desktop are connected. Many thanks for any advice

Hello! Was wondering if anyone else had problems getting this setup to work? There's also a desktop in the mix and what seems to be happening is that the switch won't allow me to switch screens when the laptop is powered up. I can flick between the desktop and a blank monitor but cannot flick when the laptop in its port replicator is powered on. I'm still investigating this on the web, but its not too fruitful One suggestion was a graphics driver incompatibility but.... Many thanks for any ideas! Ixy

Hello, Hope this is the correct forum for this I have a small problem with a laptop user. User logs in to xp on our domain and all goes well. User gets a message saying cannot reconnect a drive and when he goes into my comp, the mapped drives all have disconnected next to them. If I open the drive, the message changes and the drive opens ok. This seems to happen when the laptop goes into standby mode as well. My first thoughts were that the NIC was droppign the connection and then reconnecting upon a request. Any thoughts? Greatly appreciated!

Hello, Turns out the laptop has a fixed ip. AFAIK there is no software firewall on the device. Could be DNS but not had any other issues with address translation. (that I know of :oD ). Hmmmmmmmm.

Hello! Thanks for looking in. Was wondering, I can't ping a laptop on one of our subnets but when I run the command, the app resolves the laptops IP but says returns no pings. Am I right in thinking that the laptop's computer account is recognised ok but no address is being assigned by DHCP? Just starting this AD stuff, so apologies if this is a dumb question. Thanks for any replys.
