  1. im not really looking to do anything with the computer other than write in note pad and solitare. i also might need a dot matrix printer and a 5 1/4" floppy drive? im primarily goin to be using it for gaming and multimedia and deffinately school work. softwares not really an issue just hardward. all im really looking for advice on is a tower and the components within that would allow me to play most if not all games out without running into the complications im facing with my current computer. some of the games i intend to run are HL2 series, CS:S, WoW, oblivian, and battlefeild. as my interest changes with the wind so will the games i play and like i said above i dont want to have to worry about buying games around my configuration
  2. like the title says i need a good config for counterstrike 1.6, i lost my old config setup and now playing 1.6 isnt the same.
  3. ripken it seems like youve actively posted in just about every thread i started, and also in every thread ive seen. is there anyone you dont help?
  4. so im pretty committed to building a new rig now and i just wanted to get some insight/help from the communaty of msfn on parts i should get. i have a budget of 2500 but i would like to keep it closer to 2000. any help is appreciated.
  5. some of the games scheduled to come out with the ps3 look really cool though. i.e. assassins creed, mgs4, splinter cell double agent. where as most of the games ive seen for 360 so far havent really stirred up much interest in me what so ever. but that could just be my opinion and the fact i havent looked into many games being released on the 360 where as i do plan on picking up a ps3 thus search up and coming games for it. but really a consoles only as good as the games that support it, a console with terrible games but great specs probably wont please people as much as a console with poor specs and great fun games. just my .02
  6. mother board, im leaning pretty heavily towards the FATAL1TY AN8SLI or the Asus m2n32 unless theres something equal or better for less youd reccomend. processor amd 64 x2 4200+, im pretty sure thats the best one compusa carries i might have them special order me a AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ again unless theres something cheaper and better. thanks for the reccomendations this site is a great place for info im glad i dont get the s*** flamed out of me.
  7. i wanted to build something pretty powerful so i wouldnt really have to worry about compatibility for quite some time, plus the idea of 2 cards in one slot was alittle interesting. anyway would you reccomend any certain card and if it pairs well with any mobo and processor. thanks
  8. the 10 day free trial isnt offered anymore by blizzard, i checked that out already. i was less than thrilled about that. i agree that the onboard intel graphics gets a thumbs down but hey this laptop is pretty light and portable and it ran counter strike, which used to be my one and only game, like a champ. also i got it dirt cheap at compusa where i work. i guess maybe ill just build a sweet rig, but compusa doesnt sell the geforce 7950 gx2 which means i have to pay retail on that bad boy.
  9. so ive decided to stop cheaping out and just get world of warcraft since everyone seems to like it. but before i do go buy it i wanted to make sure my computer will run it. i tried looking for the trial version but it seems they dont offer that anymore, which is pretty awesome. i have a sony fe670g with 2gb ram. im not really worried about most of my specs just my graphics card. i know intel isnt exactly the greatest in graphics cards. anyone know if my computer will run it or can get me a trial version of the game somehow. thanks!
  10. basically a free to play game. i was thinking about picking up a copy of guild wars, but i dont know well my vaio fe670g would run it. so anything that computer could run decently thats free to play and im open to suggestions although offline would be nice considdering my awesome dsl likes to take a dump pretty often lately. thanks for the help
  11. thanks for the help guys, later that night i popped the disk in at a friends house to try and sort things out and it worked fine. i dont know what was wrong but im not complaining. i thought it was a pretty good game, although it was somewhat short and easy. maybe i should crack down and get pay to play rpg any good reccomendations for regular RPG's and not pay to play other than oblivion(oblivion couldnt really hold my interest my computer isnt sweet enough to run it well).
  12. i just picked up a copy of fable: the lost chapters today and when i go to install it it tells me that "e:\\setup.exe is not a valid win32 application. i have no idea what this means and its pretty annoying at this point. any help would be apprecaited. thanks guys
