  1. Both safe and regular modes found deleted and found again repeatedly: Tried to run unupdated yahoo macafee, and it found: Network1.Popups Adware YourEnhancement Downloader WinBo32 Adware spybot ; found and (fixed?): AbetterInternet MediaMotor adaware se full system scan; found and fixed? Win32.Tro… Malware c:\WINDOWS\mrnla.exe Win32.Tro… Malware c: \WINDWOwnupkae.exe ADAWARE: C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@trafficmp[1].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@trafficmp[2].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@tribalfusionj[1].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@ tribalfusionj [2].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@ tripod [1].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\m.j.swaim@tripod[1].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@valueclick [1].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@z1.addserver [1].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@zedo [3].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@zedo [2].txt C:WINDOWS\Cookies\test@zedo [1].txt Unable to delete Went to safe mode ctrl pane /internet options / settings / window/cookies and deleted thousands of cookies. the only thing left is my directory which wont delete Speaking of which, there are a lot of copies of my diretory scattered around under various names with icons on the control panel along with the icon for WinAntiVirusPro 2006 Had a spybot pop-up message: System Startup global entry Value added: Entry: win3207086739768 add infinitum - just change the number after win32, also multiple copies of win32XXXXX and "mrnla" on ctrl_alt_delete programs running probably others that shouldn't be there. Also window: RUNDLL Error loading C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DMONWV.DLL I have been struggling with this for 37 days, so don't have a good registry to go back to. I can do a few things in safe mode still, but in regular mode: run out of space on bootup. Accessing internet and you from another computer.
  2. Andromeda, Question: How can I delete my old Mcafee crapola when it is on my Win98 Control Panel and who knows where else? I used the uninstall feature on Mcafee and it did not tell me I failed, but the Mcafee emblem still comes up when I boot and a Mcafee icon is on my Control Panel. I can Hilight an Icon on the control panel, but when I click the big delete X, nothing happens. I would expecially love to be able to delete from my Control Panel, because in addition to the old Mcafee icon I also have a rogue WinAntiVirusPro 2006 icon on My control panel. Ad-Aware se saw WinAntiVirusPro 2006 and did not see it again after I quarantined and deleted it using Ad-aware. I see it on my Control Panel, but it could be other places as well. Would appreciate any suggestions you have. thanks!
  3. Hope you get an answer to this because my win98 has been attacked by hijacker and malware and I'm having a heck of a time getting rid of the stuff. Tried my Yahoo tool, Macafee, Adaware, Spybot. Think I'll try Zonealarm. Thanks! Yep. ZoneAlarm doesn't support win98 anymore along with a host of others. What's worse are the ones that haven't bothered to mention that they no longer support their Win98 products, but have new unresolved win98 security holes that will probably not be resolved. I have been fighting a loosing battle against an invasion of hijacker / malware for 39 days now. AS of last night and this morning the Microsoft support line call tree still has a number to press (3) for security problems and then (1) for Win98, etc. last night I was connected to a tech support who gave me some suggestions to follow, which I did for 14 hours until I dug myself a deeper hole. Today the screener refused to put me through to support for my win98, even though I told her the call tree specifies win 98 support. She finally put me through to someone because I also have a new registered XP. That person would not help me with my Win98 either. At that point I told her I would be happy if I could just get my files off of my win98 and onto my XP, but she said she can only help me with one PC at a time! Meanwhile my win98 is way worse than yesterday. I can't even access my control panel where a rogue malware removal tool has taken up residence. It has also generated multiple copies of it's own perverted Win32 and other programs that try to boot and access Explorer, even with my modem unpluged and my dialer checked cancel. After running Ad-aware- se and Spybot in Safe mode, I find new versions and repeat versions of Malware, cookies; data miners, etc. after deleteing and deleteing the restore files and re-runing both in safe and regular modes without ever going on-line or having a modem cable plugged in. Also, it appears that AT&T Yahoo internet service no longer provides their version of what was McAfee spyware and virus scan to dial-up customers, only to DSL. I'm feeling squeezed out. Just wish I could get my files out with me.
