Hi I used a toolnamed "duplicate finder" which find and possibly delete all the duplicate files on your hard disk.On windows folder containing Vista OS it found 3500 duplicate files on 20000files placed in the folder.I clicked to delete all of them but the sooftware was able to delete only 600 of them.How can I do to delete the rest of them? Another thing I noticed is that the files replaced by the hotfixes are not deleted but moved somewhere within the main folder of vista os. Does anyone knows where they are moved?

Hi you said that 75mb can be remooved + other 75mb of duplicates files can be removed from who is going to install from DVD. Could anyone indicate exactly which folder to remove?

Hi ,as per title I'm going to make a copy o windows specifically designed to work in a Virtual Machine,in the specific VirtualBox,and this VM will run in Laptop Running Ubunutu as host OS. What I would need to know is if I can remove safely hardware support like battery cpu amd or cpu Intel,pmcia and services relating to wireless connection support (as I use wireless connection to connect to internet with my laptop ).As I can undertstand Guest OS in virtual machine use the drives of the Virtualization software, so I guess I shouldn't need the hardware support I mentioned and the services for the wireless connection as Windows XP installed in the virtual machine should get the connection from the Host OS. Or Am I wrong?

Hi I have just a question about vlite images,as I remove a lot of things I'm not sure what to do with the update. As an example,I removed Internet Explorer 7,but I kept HTML Engine which is used by Maxthon as web engine. Should I install the updates regarding Internet Explorer? If I use the pre-release of the service pack 1,what would happen? I mean this pre-release as other updates packages contains all the updates regarding Windows and in which you can't choose which updates install and which not,what happens with the updates regarding components that I removed?Are installed anyway?It would generates any kind of error or problem? I hope my question are clear.

How did you reach that results? I'm sorry if I dont believe it, I think you are joking..

To be honest I didn't check, as I never considered to keep the default installation, so I just used the default configuration few days,just the time to preprare the new iso.

Hi as per topic I would like to ask your memory footprint of Vista vlited after you just started the system with drivers and AV and firewall (vista firewall or anyone else you are using ) installed. I have a laptop with 1024 mb of ram ,but 128 mb are used by the integrated vga,so 900mb for the system. I made a 32bit vista image of 580mb,I removed almost everuthing including windows search and superfetch, and I disabled the most of the services ,but still at the startup vista get 320mb. Having removed superfetch service,I was expecting a lower memory footprint..can anyone post his experience? (Don't forget to mention how much memory the system has installed..).

Nuhi I'm writing again just to let you know that I made a cd without portable device and photo gallery,and the scanner of my multifunction printer worked fine. The printer is lexmark branded. I tried to see if the digital camera (kodak z612) would be working but I didn't find a way.. So I made again another cd with portable device included (but photo gallery excluded) and it worked. I hope this could be useful in someway..

Thanks for the answers, the second point was a question (I forgot to insert the ? ). For the point 2 the fact that Windows Photo Gallery was in multimedia section made me believe that the component was necessary only in conjunction with some application as Windows media player.

Hi as per topic I want ask about the following components that I wish to remove but I'm not sure: 1)Windows portable Devices (in hardware support ):I didn't understand in the description if this is necessary to import the photo from cameras (I don't use windows media player )into the pc. 2)Windows Photo gallery:again I have a camera and even a scanner,this component is absolutely necessary if I want import images from the scanner or cameras 3)Windows Firewall-computer browser-Internet connection sharing:I'm found on google that these components are not necessary (though they improve security of the system ) to make function the system correctly (but tell me if I'm wrong ) I don't know if these components are necessary to link 2 pc (a laptop with vista.and a desktop with vista ) in lan configuration or in some alternative way(I have a router also I could use to connect the 2 pc)

Hi, I'm trying vlite, but I'm stuck with two questions: 1)I see that between removal option there's A)Windows Media Codec 2)Windows media player. Now I don't want windows media player,but I would like to keep the codecs, so if I remove wmp but I keep these codecs,will that mean that the system still have the codecs of windows media player (to watch wmv files on internet) that I will be able to use with any browser? 2)With Nlite I have always removed IE (but keeping ie core ) and I was able to use broswer as Maxthon or avant based on internet explorer engine.Now in vlite IE core is called HTML Engine,so it will be the same as in Nlite if I remove internet explorer but keeping windows html engine,and still able to use browser frontend as Maxthon?

Hi I'm just using windows server 2008 beta. I would like know when the product will expire. I activated the product . If I click on mycomputer-properties i don't see any expiration date. Does anyone know about it?

Hi , I have a problem on a machine where I have installed 4GB . If I select "System properties", the system only "see" 2.93 GB, it appears something like this: Computer: Intel ®Core 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86 GHZ 2.93 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension Even from task manager is the same. But as you see on system properties Physical Address Extension seems to be activated. The OS is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, with service pack 2 installed. Dopes anyone knwos what the problem is?

Does anyone knows the difference between this version of windows and a normal version of windows xp customised with program such Nlite o WAIK? I know that with windows xp embedded you can customize the installation cd,but what you can do more with this version than you can do with Nlite or Windows automated installation kit?

Hi,I just make a customised cd of windows xp pro.As I reinstalled the the OS now I want remake the cd as I want definitely remove windows media player and internet explorer and some other program addon.The fact is that on this cd I have integrated IE7 a WMP 11,how can I remove from the cd???

As I'm making a version with Nlite with all the update for the Windows Server 2003 R2 i want to know if this version has already integrated the service pack 1 and opr other updates. I suppose the answer is yes,but the fact is that with nlite I can integrate the service pack 1.. so I don't know what to think..

On the final screen just before to click the last finish button I should change,as mentioned in the guide, the TRansform command but I tried to change it on the screen but I couldn't make any changes. Can anyone help me on this?
