Thanks a lot - I appreciate all your help. I'll check it out. I wonder if you wouldn't mind taking a look at the problem I am having now? I have posted it under the Unattended Windows thread as 'Problem at 13 mins to go stage'. Thanks again.
  2. I am so close to completing my perfect unattended XP install cd I can taste it. I have been at this for nearly four months now and today I ran my latest incarnation - everything went really well no critical updates, no recommended updates apart from one wee glitch. My cd is a hybrid of Green Machine's XPCREATE (Indespensable) which I use to slipstream all the hotfixes and MSFN's XP / 2003 CD Guide (A life saver) which I am now getting into deeper to install various apps and reg tweaks post first boot. Also, I have to say that this forum has been such a help and an absolutely fantastic education. So, a huge thanks to everybody for all the knowledge shared here. Anyway, back to my glitch. Today I got a problem at the 13 mins to go stage. A grey window popped up saying something to the effect that I had used an incorrect parameter. Underneath there were a lot of various switches displayed - one of which I expect must have been the correct parameter. Now, I have to admit, I have no idea just what exactly is going on at the 13 mins to go stage but I suspect it may have something to do with the reg tweaks? I say this only because all the apps appear to be instaling fine post first boot. The only other modification I have made to the cd recently was to add WNTIPCFG.EXE into the SVC-X2M folder during the XPCREATE phase. Perhaps this could have something to do with it? Anyway, I attach my reg tweaks file in the hope that someone can find something wrong with it. Thanks in advance. RegTweaks.reg RegTweaks.reg

Just to let you know I tried that and it worked a treat. Thanks to both of you for your advice. Now then, I know that this isn't really the right thread to ask this but I wonder if you could now tell me how to create a shortcut for this that would sit in the All Users desktop? Thanks again.

Mmmm. Forgive me, I am sure you know a lot more about this than I do, but why would I want to do that? Usually, when I install this on a machine it creates a directory under 'Program files'. From there one has just to create a shortcut from the exe on to the desktop.
  6. Can't seem to get this to work. What am I doing wrong? I have a clean XP built machine with office files at c:\officexp When I run the shrink.exe file I get past the first couple of stages till it asks for the name of the install exe. By default this is entered: "setuppls.exe" Now, I don't know about anyone else's version of Office XP but in my one there is no setuppls.exe. I do, however, have a setup.exe file but when I put that in I get a message that says file not found. Any advice would be much appreciated - I really want to get this on the cd.

Yes - indeed it does. However, have you ever tried to talk a user through it on the other end of a phone?

Hi, this is a very handy wee utility that we have started to install on users 2K / XP desktops at work. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techi.../wntipcfg-o.asp Pretty sure I could include this no bother - not sure which folder to drop it in to though. Anyone tried / know? Thanks in advance.
  9. Mmmmm. 190Mb you say? I would like to know just what you included in your Office installation please. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi, I want to include this in my batch file. anyone got it to work? What about the update - how does that apply? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hello everyone, First of all let me apologize for posting here - nothing else seemed relevant and this seemed closest. I am fairly new to this game and I am still finding my feet, recently I have come across a problem that, try as I may, I cannot seem to get past. I have created an administration installation point on a server from which I wish to deploy Office 2000. I installed the resource kit and then set about creating a few different Transform files to customize installations for various groups. The last step in the Custom Installation Wizard says: 'To use your custom transform file, include it in the office set up command line'. The following command will run setup quietly using your Transform file'. Here is the command: setup.exe TRANSFORMS=\\X\Shares\IT\Standard_Install\O2K\standard.MST /qn+ Now, when I go to Start/Run and paste this command in I get the following error: 'Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components.' Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong please? Should I be using Start/Run? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
