SP2 Installation Problem

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and maybe could assist me.

I am installing SP2 on Windows 2003 server and the sevice will not install. It seems to quit when backing up the registry. The only error message I get is, "setup cancelling".

I have through the MS site and really could not anything relating to my issue. I have SP1 already installed and all of the Hotfixes. My server is pretty much up to date except for SP2.

If anyone have any suggestions, let me know.

I'm not sure why this would be occurring (especially if other hotfixes install properly), but getting a process monitor log of the SP2 installation (including the failure) would be a good starting place for troubleshooting.

try running the sp2 setup from a run command line with the /log:<path> to create an installation log. it may give you a clue as to why the installation is failing.

Hmmm - seems to indicate a problem executing a method during a file backup operation, but that could be completely irrelevant. Consider using "stepping mode" (http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/ntbugtraq/2002-q1/0125.html) - note that the KB no longer exists, but the method should still work.
