Display properties error

I needed to take a screenshot of a video so to do so I turned hardware acceleration for display off and now when I go onto display properties -> settings and click advanced I get the message -

An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel file C:\WINNT\system32\desk.cpl

and then it closes can anyone help me with this?

Which version of Windows are you using? Which graphics card is it?

Have you tried regsvr32 desk.cpl ?

I've actually fixed it now - I just updated the graphics drivers - thanks for your reply anyway.
