Reformat with Upgrade CD?

Hi,

I have a computer running 98 :D and want to install Vista (after a slight hardware upgrade). It is obviously cheaper to purchase an upgrade version. Is it possible to reformat the computer with an upgrade CD later on? If not, could I use a retail CD and the key from my upgrade and still cover my butt legally?

An upgrade cd requires an OS to upgrade so you cant format the hd to remove 98 (you could format the drive and reinstall 98, then upgrade).

dont know about the legalities of using an upgrade cd's key, but would say its not ossible. Why would they give you an upgrade cd at a reduced rate that could thne be used for another install with a retail cd.
