I've been hunting for a utility that is very similar to the vista backup utility, but can't seem to find one. I'm looking for something that will be used to scan an external drive for music, pictures, email, any other user data, then let you select which of these you want to backup, then backup all the data to dvds or an external HD.

The vista util allows you to do this, but it wants to schedule backups for the pc its running from and it only backs up files from ntfs file systems.

The basis for this will be to backup laptop hard drives which windows has failed on, and they need to be wiped. The drive will be attached to a desktop, then hopefully a program can scan the external drive and proceed to backup user data. The laptop drives will have fat32 and ntfs partitions on them. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I also don't want the software to do any kind of incremental backup, as each drive will be a different clients and a full fill backup will be needed.

Sorry if this was posted in the wrong place, couldn't decide where to put it.
