Ambassador Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Here is the problem: on Windows 98 SE on the same computer, when I shut down properly, the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" message doesn't show up; it automatically shuts down on it's own. Yet with Windows 2000 on the same computer, the computer doesn't automatically shut down, and instead the message appears. How can I fix this?
Mijzelf Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 (edited) Maybe it's an old computer supporting APM? In that case you can try this fix. Edited May 24, 2007 by Mijzelf
Ambassador Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 But Windows 98 has no trouble shutting off by itself!
Mijzelf Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Windows 98 detects APM while installing. Windows 2000 just assumes the BIOS does ACPI. In case of an APM machine you have to install it yourself.
