How to stop Outlook Express listing contacts from MSN Messenger

I am using Windows 2000. When I open Outlook Express it automatically opens MSN Messenger minimized to the tray area and if I am signed into MSN it displays all my contacts in the Outlook address book. How can I stop this from happening? I have done it once before but can't remember how.
