aeternam Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I used vLite on Windows Vista Business x86. Now after a clean install I get:WMI Reverse Peformance Adapter Maintenance Utility stopped working and was closedA problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.I keep getting these errors for no reason at all. I am attaching the error message as well as the vLite session info.Last Session; vLite preset file[information]Version = 1.0 beta on 2.0.50727.42 Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2Target = Windows Vista BUSINESS 32bit 6.0.6000.16386[Components];# Accessories #AccessibilityMobility CenterPaintSnipping ToolSpeech SupportSystem InformationWelcome CenterWindows Sidebar and GadgetsWordpad;# Drivers #Printers-ApolloPrinters-BrotherPrinters-CitizenPrinters-DellPrinters-DiconixPrinters-EpsonPrinters-Fuji XeroxPrinters-FujitsuPrinters-GenericPrinters-GestetnerPrinters-HPPrinters-IBMPrinters-InfotecPrinters-KonicaPrinters-Konica MinoltaPrinters-Kyocera MitaPrinters-LanierPrinters-LexmarkPrinters-MinoltaPrinters-Minolta-QMSPrinters-NECPrinters-NRGPrinters-OcePrinters-OkiPrinters-OkidataPrinters-OlivettiPrinters-PanasonicPrinters-QMSPrinters-RicohPrinters-SamsungPrinters-SavinPrinters-SeikoshaPrinters-SharpPrinters-SonyPrinters-StarPrinters-TallyPrinters-TektronixPrinters-Wipro ePeripheralsPrinters-XeroxScannersSound controllers;# Games #Game ExplorerInbox GamesPremium Inbox Games;# Hardware Support #Fax SupportInternet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI)Smartcards;# Multimedia #Movie and DVD MakerScreensaversSideShowSound RecorderWindows CalendarWindows Media CodecsWindows Media PlayerWindows Media SamplesWindows Photo GalleryWindows Photo Viewer;# Network #Connect to a Network ProjectorInternet Information ServicesRemote Desktop and AssistanceRemote Desktop ClientWindows CollaborationWindows Mail;# Services #Microsoft DFS ReplicationOffline FilesRemote RegistrySecondary LogonVolume Shadow CopyWindows Remote ManagementWindows Search;# System #Disk DefragmenterMicrosoft AgentNatural LanguagePerformance CountersReadyBoostReliability and Performance MonitorSecurity CenterSync CenterSystem RestoreTablet PCWindows BackupWindows DefenderWindows Easy TransferWindows SATZip Folder[Options]UAC (User Account Control) = DisabledPower scheme = High performance[Protection][Drivers][unattended]Last_Session.ini
aeternam Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Anyone? This problem is really bothering me and I need help to fix it. Also I think I removed something that won't let me play WMV/WMA's, I think it might be something with the error messages. Even installing the codecs won't fix it.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Windows Media CodecsWindows Media PlayerYou removed these right?your innability to play those files are most likely a side effect of that.
aeternam Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Alright, I will try and find a way to download the codecs but WMA/WMV isn't that important.Although I would like to know if anyone has a solution to the WMI Reverse Performance Adapter errors I am getting.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Why not just build another disk and re-install?
nuhi Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 As for the other issue, WMI errors, try keeping the:Performance CountersReliability and Performance MonitorI will for sure check if it's possible to bypass the dependency, thx for reporting.
aeternam Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 I was also wondering if there was a codec package where I can download the Windows Media codecs. I really don't want to rebuild the install and reinstall my whole OS. I don't have any more CD's lying around and I don't have time to go out and buy. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to add the WM codecs back or a site to redownload them.I also tried using CCCP (www.cccp-project.net) to play the WMV files but MPC is unable to render the videos, so I'm guessing I would still need the codecs even if I do have ffdshow installed.
geo411m Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 yes its called windows media lite. it allows you to play wmv files without having media player or its codec installed.
dexter.inside Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) nuhi, if you remove LOADPERF.DLL, is there any particular reason for keeping WMIADAP.EXE ? Faulting application WMIADAP.EXE, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549af43, faulting module loadperf.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000135, fault offset 0x00008fc7, process id 0xdf8, application start time 0x01c7b18ac82e510b. nuhi Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 dexter.inside, I was just planning to keep loadperf in the next one but I'll see about the possibility to remove that with it instead, thx.
dexter.inside Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) this is the associated registry data for WMIADAP, component and SxS assembly.HKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\x86_microsoft-windows-wmi-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_b71d411922ad8f1f\f!wmiadap.exeHKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\x86_microsoft-windows-wmi-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_b71d411922ad8f1f\f!wmiadap.tmfHKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\DerivedData\Components\x86_microsoft-windows-wmi-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_b71d411922ad8f1f\f!wmiadap.exeHKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\DerivedData\Components\x86_microsoft-windows-wmi-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_b71d411922ad8f1f\f!wmiadap.tmfI believe that removing these keys will stop the error described in this topic. By removing loadperf.dll, the windows management instrumentation is left without performance monitoring anyways. And I noticed that there is some performance gain after I removed performance counters, probably due to less background processing being done. nuhi Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 wmi-core? Then no way Hose...until the WMI is component by itself gonna keep the loadperf.
dexter.inside Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) I believe there is more to this problem... even with loadperf.dll in place, there are problems when msiexec is installing drivers via WMI on TrustedInstaller credentials. SQL 2005 Enterprise, SQL 2008 (codename Katmai), and VMware Workstation 6 will not install. Is there some other component that removes files related to WMI ? Edit: I will investigate this on Windows Server 2008 later today Edited June 19, 2007 by dexter.inside
nuhi Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Probably counters, try keeping that component in vLite.
