WMP11 Can't stream ASF after Vista Codec Pack install

Since installing the latest Vista Codec Package I can no longer play the audio files from places like allmusic.com, cduniverse.com, etc...

I get either "cannot display web page", or WMP loads and gives me a C00D1199 error http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...amp;id=C00D1199

MP11 is the default player and it says all my codecs are recent

what gives?

It may have something to do with the fact that you have to rename asf files to asx

NOTES on certain types of playback

If Windows Vista fails to playback DVD's install Media Player Classic from the Tools section below to play DVD's.

Some MPEG files will require you to use the shortcuts provided for CLASSIC playback and vice-versa to MODERN.

If you change the MOV file extension to HDMOV you will improve the quality of the video playback.

To playback *.ASF files in Vista's Media Player 11 or Media Center change the file extension to ASX.

To playback *.VOB files in Vista's Media Player 11 or Media Center change the file extension to MPG.

To playback *.MOD files in Vista's Media Player 11 or Media Center change the file extension to MPG.

But I don't know how this information will help you with "streaming" hmmm.
