Unofficial Win98SE Automatic Updater

Featured Replies

I've said as much before and I know there have been some responses (although they do not seem to have led anywhere positive  ) but we really do need an automatic scanner/updater along the lines of the M$ one (but better)!

C'mon, you stickified guys, you're all brilliant but your efforts often seem to be overlapping in many ways and this can be confusing to us ordinaries.

Form a committee of stickifieds, perhaps in conjunction with the Win98SE Forever campaign, each donate some webspace (I too would be able to provide some webspace), and get that scanner/updater on the road!

I've already told [soporific, I believe] that I have enough web space to host any updates.

All some1 has to do is send me the files, and I'll upload them asap.

Yes, that would be an excellent idea as you've got enough webspace, you could be the hub or gateway - maybe for the keep Win98 alive campaign too. Perhaps, also, other webspace volunteers could act as mirrors or backups!

And, perhaps, now that official Win9x/ME support is fading away, the time has come to think of commandeering Win9x/ME and to fall back on our resources on this forum i.e. to not think in terms of just using M$ files and to expand Win88SE2ME so that it's not a matter of just using WinME files but the best of the many homegrown 'unofficial' files here including the KernelX updater?
