Locked out of my old documents

So basically, I re-installed windows XP Pro from scratch on my home computer and re-configured everything almost identical to the way it was before. Only now, All of my files from my old user accounts are locked out, and I don't have access to them. I had kept all of my videos, music, installers, pictures and files in My Documents, about 80 gb's worth of stuff. Is there any way to get all that info back? I tried creating a new user with the exact same name but no go. Btw, I'm trying to get in through C:/Documents and Settings.

Open up windows explorer>tools>folder options>view>uncheck Use simple file sharing.

Browse to the folder>right-click in it>properties>security>advanced>owner>click your name>click the check box that says "replace owner on...>ok>ok

That should do it.
