XPsp2_user Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Hello,I have two bootable hard disks with their own installations of XP . I want to be able to boot from the first disk and write protect the second disk from within the O/S of the first disk. Or any third party tools ?thanks
JayScore Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Just discovered the Tips and Tweaks section on the home page, here. There is an article about hiding and limiting access to hard drives. Maybe it'll be useful to you. I'm interested, but I haven't tried it, yet. Also, it doesn't say how to make them accessible again without going back into the registry.
spacesurfer Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 If you have NTFS on both XP's, then you can boot to the first, take ownership of that drive so that others can't access that drive. Then boot to the other and take ownership of that drive so others can't access that one. That's a simple way of doing it.
IcemanND Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 you could always get deepfreeze and freeze the other drive, then when you reboot any changes would be gone.
