budbrown Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 I would like to disable the XP CD burner application and replace it with NERO 5.5.9 instead of Download of NERO 6. Can I use the NERO 5.9 installation disk instead of the NERO 6 download?Thank You,Bud
jayroller Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Er, not sure I understand the question, but.... why not just install Nero and use it? Just ignore XPs' built-in burner and use Nero as needed? I use 5.5.10.50 with XP (cos I hate Nero6) without problem.
Aaron Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Start > Run > Services.msc Scroll down until you find IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service, go into its Properties and Disable it. This does speed up Nero loading times actually
budbrown Posted October 16, 2003 Author Posted October 16, 2003 Jayroller, when I load nero 5.5.9 without disabling XP CD burner XP blows up and I can't run XP.
jayroller Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 If you follow Aarons' advice and set the IMAPI service to disabled (actually, I have mine on manual, just in case ) then Nero shouldn't give you any problems. I've been using it since the original 5.5 release without problems under XP. If that doesn't work, then I've no idea what the problem could be.
