Clearing Select History Files

Here's a mystery that perhaps someone can solve for me.

If I go into Internet Options and delete ALL history entries,

the drop-down menu at the top of Internet Explorer (showing

web sites previously visited) become blank. That makes sense.

However, if I bring up a list of History entries, right click on

one or more of those entries and click on delete, the entry

is deleted from the Hisotry file BUT it still remains in the

drop down menu at the top of MIE.

Is there a setting that will delete the entry in the drop down

window when an individual History entry is deleted ?
