ixy Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Hello! Thanks for looking in. Was wondering, I can't ping a laptop on one of our subnets but when I run the command, the app resolves the laptops IP but says returns no pings. Am I right in thinking that the laptop's computer account is recognised ok but no address is being assigned by DHCP? Just starting this AD stuff, so apologies if this is a dumb question. Thanks for any replys.
cluberti Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Well, from what we know it could be any number of things - the laptop's firewall is blocking the ping, the address resolved by DNS is incorrect, the laptop is not actually connected to the network, or the laptop is powered down or off.
ixy Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Hello,Turns out the laptop has a fixed ip. AFAIK there is no software firewall on the device. Could be DNS but not had any other issues with address translation. (that I know of :oD ). Hmmmmmmmm.
