Remove Vista components after install?

Recommended Posts

I noticed vlite is only for modifying the setup files to create a new install disc. What if I wanted to remove components on a already installed Vista system? Are there are programs out there for this?

You need to goto the add/remove programs menu in control panel, I know its changed its name to programs and applications or something (Im at work at the moment so I can cheack to see it exact name). in there along the left side there is a button called turn windows features on or off (or sumething similar to that anyway). In there you can add and remove all the windows components.

But see, the problem with this method... it doesn't remove it, it just disables it and remains on the hard drive.

I guess I'll have to wait for some other tool to come out.

Its very tough to remove some things in Vista, the permissions/ownership hurdles will exasperate you, even with a full admin account. I wanted to delete the large movie files/samples in Movie Maker and had to go into safe mode to delete each item seperately, it wouldnt allow me to delete folders, which makes the effort unworthwhile with many files.
