win2000 sp4 kanji display issues

Okay I've got Japanese language region support enabled, but for some reason kanji files encoded under an XP system don't display correctly on my system, any idea for fixes?

The MS help pages make a mention about a bug if more than 5 kanji are displayed the os may mistake them for Chinese characters.

Okay after a bit of looking around i've found that it is a language recognition issue.

MS talks about correcting it for certain programs here

any idea how i can adapt these fixes to Zoomplayer pro, or Win2k as a whole?
