See If Anyone Can Figure This Out...

Im stuck, trying to remember the name of an internet name protocol and cant for the life in me. Rather than using IP numbers you can use another system, similar, that uses numbers. BUT.. no periods.

Eg: rather than using the ip 62.38.56.09 or whatever, you could use the alternative (whatever the thing is called) that would look something like 292932773

MSFN has used the system before, i cant remember what it is called though so im unable to go look some stuff up on it. It wont hide your ip, obviously anyone connecting (or you to them) to you will see you connected as your ip/hostmask rather than the long number.

anyone know what im talking about? its driving me crazy! :ow:

The address style is called a "Dword", meaning "Double word"... because it consists of two 16 bit parts which are combined into a 10 decimal string...

Try looking at this here, it illustrates it quite well I think :)

only thing is, it doesn't work... :/

Well, thats something completely different! ... I can't get it to work either, so maybe IE6 doesn't support it anymore... I don't know ...
