Lila108in
Word 2002I have been using a table as a Data Source document for mail merging. Everything was allright until a colleague pasted cells from an Excel document into the table. Now when I try to even sort a column in alphabetic order I get this error: Cannot sort table containing merged cells.I guess the pasting of Excel cells has created merged cells, but I cannot identify which ones they are.Mine is a large Table and to make a new one would take hours of work. I need to fix it urgently. How to indentify the merged cells? Is there a way to DEMERGE cells?Help me please.
Anne Troy
A couple of options I'd try:1. Copy entire table to Excel, keep all selected, then go to Format-->Cells, Alignment tab and uncheck Merged cells.2. Save the document as Word 97, which doesn't support tables within tables, which is likely what you've got there. Close it and reopen it.
