Inserting background image/watermark

I am trying to make an editable letterhead with a watermark I can type over.

I figured out how to make it a background image; however, when I paste text into the document, the background image gets pushed down the page.

Is there a way to lock it in place?

Also, the letterhead has 2 different pages. Would it be possible to have the background for page 2 automatically be applied to each additional page created in the document? Or should I just make a multi-page doc for my coworkers to easily fill in?

Hi there,

You can achieve what you want by inserting the image into the header or footer. Once you have inserted the image, choose Format | Picture, select the Layout tab, then choose "Behind Text". Then when you paste text into the body of the document, it will be pasted on top of the image.

To have a different image on the first page, you have to set the document to have a different first page header. (File | Page Setup, Layout tab. Select "Different first page".)

This is how you do it in Word 2000. I'm assuming it will be similar in whatever version of Word you are using.

Regards,

Anne
