AnimaliX
Vista DVD include in root upgrade folder (like Office 2007 with Updates folder) in this folder is Framework updates...I compile new iso with ".msu" last hotfixes into DVD but nothing Vista installed Microsoft has completely changed the way it services Windows. In the past, the process of combining, or slipstreaming, service packs and hot-fixes into a Windows install were tedious and error-prone. Now, all you have to do is copy the update into an Updates folder found in the root of any Vista Setup DVD, install share, or Setup image. It's literally that simple: All future installs will automatically incorporate any updates stored in that folder.
psies
I am not sure if it is that simple.perhaps you still should expand the MSU packages so that the .CAB will be in the upgrade folder !?I just finished an unattend vista installation with all patches slipstreamed in it.It's a bit more work but it seems to work (doing final installation as we speak)Take a look at this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...st&p=627029
the unknown
I can't seem to find any docs on the Upgrade folder. According to an article by Paul Thurrott it should be a simple drag-and-drop scenario.Anyone luckier?
AnimaliX
i drag-n-drop only CAB files from expanded MSUs (expand -F:* ...) ... but still nothing
Arneh
In another article, Thurrot then says its the Updates folder (http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista_03.asp), not Upgrade. Think even he's not quite so sure and there is no documentation for this anywhere as far as I've seen.

AnimaliX
I find this for Office 07Michael: And the technology that makes that feature possible, is the Office open XML format correct?Eric: That’s part of it, so the Open XML format is definitely a key feature of Office and there are a lot of advantages there but in addition in the set up controller itself there’s a way that Office set up is written it’s been architected to take advantage of that functionality. One other last thing, I’m sorry, I want to mention, it has to do with patching. There’s no need now to do anything special or complicated in order to incorporate a patch into your Office installation point. Now your Office installation point contains a folder inside called update and you can simply drop patches into this update folder and set up nodes to install those patches so it looks in the update folder and installs those patches as part of the Office installation so it’s very easy to keep your copy of Office up to date.drop patches into this update folder and set up nodes to install those patches

AnimaliX
"All you should need to do is throw the intaller MSI into the Updates folder and it will execute it after the installation process completes. This is true of all of the new MS apps."http://board.iexbeta.com/index.php?showtopic=68876hmm this folder (upgrade/updates) is not for hotfixes

Why would new updates go into a folder called Upgrade?Or... the other explanation is Thurrot hadn't checked up on the Upgrade/Updates thing and that feature isn't supported by Vista Setup 'cause there's no documentation for it anywhere on Technet as far as I see.
