GMail outgoing server not working on Vista laptop

I have an environment with 5 laptops that are constantly roaming from wireless network to wireless network. To keep the users from switching outgoing mailservers all the time in Outlook, I setup gmail accounts for each user. I user their company's incoming and use gmail's outgoing server settings. This has worked great for all the laptops w/XP. Now I've got one with Vista, and it will not work even with the exact same settings in Outlook. It says the operation timed out waiting for response from outgoing server. If I switch to the local ISP's outgoing server, I don't have a problem.

Any suggestions?
