Pensionada Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 I found the problem: it was the modem driver. What happened was that after I completed the install, I noticed that the modem driver was missing (PCI simple comm controller).I hooked up to driveragent.com which suggested the Creatix V.90 HaM for which I downloaded the driver; all went smooth. But, apparently, it is not the correct driver. I deinstalled and the shutdown problem went away. Thanks for all your help.
