Another control panel question

Does anyone know if the Internet Options applet can be removed. Is this applet and all of its settings only used for Internet Explorer? I removed IE from my install and all seems fine, Firefox is running great. I know the applet is only a cpl file and can be deleted, but what about all of the registry keys holding all of the values. Firefox comes with its own Internet Options applet built in. I remember removing IE from Win98 and that included removing the applet and the reg keys, but this is XP were talking about!!

nLite will remove it if you choose Internet Explorer Core, which is needed for many things so it's not recommended.

Reason why it's kept is because it works and is useful to configure third party tools which still uses IE HTML engine or the occasional (file) Explorer html parse.
