Ambrosia Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Hi there !I just want to know if it is possible to change the logo appearing on the left side of the classic Start Menu and of Winver.exe (aka "About Windows").I think it is simply a resource hacking, but in this case I need to know the concerned file(s).Thanks in advance.
prx984 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Yup it is. Those resources I believe are saved in system32.dll which you can edit with a resource editor. Such as reshack. Just Google it.
Ambrosia Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 Thanks, but apparently system32.dll doesn't exist at all !!There are many system.xxxxxx.dll files, but I don't feel courageous enough to check them all.If someone knows...
neo Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 (edited) Open Explorer.exe (C:\Windows\Explorer.exe) in Res Hacker and naviagte to BITMAP --> 143 --> 1033 for chaging the start menu Windows FlagOpen Shell32.dll (C:\Windows\System32\Shell32.dll) in res hacker and navigate to BITMAP -->131 --> 1033 for XP Professional and BITMAP -->147 --> 1033 for XP Home Edition. neo Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 For Classic Start Menu, In Explorer.exe Navigate to BITMAP --> 167 --> 1033 using reshacker and change the Bitmap.
prx984 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Wow that was a lot of replies by you neo Anyway, sorry, I should have fixed that. Lately I haven't been thinking strait. It should be "shell32.dll" not "system32.dll" system32 is the folder that "shell32.dll" is in
neo Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 It should be "shell32.dll" not "system32.dll" system32 is the folder that "shell32.dll" is inYes, Now U r right.
Ambrosia Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 Ok, thanks for all !The funny thing is that I had already found it by chance ! I simply knew that shell32.dll contains many materials for Windows, and I checked for the flags/logos.Just one thing neo, you have copied/pasted too quickly, as it is not 131 -> 1033 for Home Edition, but only for Pro (you have written two times the same thing). It is 147 -> 1033 for home.Thank you again.
