16 Bit MS Dos Subsystem

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before..

Using nLite 1.3 RC2, I created my XP setup cd from XP Pro SP2 OEM setup files..During the installation, everything went smoothly until an error message box popped up saying:

16 Bit MS Dos Subsystem

---------------------------------

C:\Windows\System32\shmgrate.exe

C:\Windows\System32\config.nt The system file is not suitable for running ms dos and microsoft Windows application. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

---------------------------------

At the back of the error message box, there was an empty command prompt window with message "C:\Windows\System32\shmgrate.exe" on its title bar.

Any idea?

Have you removed 16bit support?

If you haven't then check if your cd has CONFIG.NT_ file in the i386 folder.

If it has then attach your preset and write down any extra steps besides nlite.

Thx.

No..I didn't remove 16bit support..

Yes..the CONFIG.NT_ file is there..

Here's my preset file..

Last_Session.ini

I just removed some components I dont need, set up few settings in Options (like clean MUI, OEM branding, remove old BIOS info, TCP/IP patch and USB polling frequency) and created bootable iso at the end..That's all.

I tried it and it worked without any problem.

Check your winnt.sif if you're using your own unattended...or maybe some other modifications

sorry..It's not on the cd..I couldn't locate the file..I've searched..the only .sif file I found is TXTSETUP.SIF

I have another nlited XP cd created with nlite v1.2 and it works just fine..never run into such problem when installing..I used the same XP setup cd that I built my previous nlited XP cd with to make my latest nlited XP that failed on me now..

p.s: I'll check again if I did something wrong when in the nliting process..

Ok if there is no winnt.sif, I just thought that you add it because in your preset the unattended page wasn't selected.

Let me know when you find anything, it simply worked when I tried it. You can also exclude few options and see what causes it for you, that can be very helpful.
