NAKA Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Hey ppl.I would like to know if is it ok to use Nlite to get a version for my WIndows XP Pro that came with my laptop. It is a 2 DVD pack, full of programs from HP that I don´t want. Also, how to make a NLited version of a Windows XP Home(upgrade)... I have the Win 98 CD(required for XP Home instalation)...Sorry if this has been answered before, but I could not find anything like this using the search(I´m a newbie about this)...Thanks in advance..Thiago
prx984 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Just run XP home through nlite. As for your OEM DVD, find the disc with I386 folder on it and copy that to your HDD and tell nLite to look in that directory. It should work.
esquilo22 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Usually those CDs / DVDs that came with notebooks aren't full install windows Cd. They hold a image file to make the restore of your HD easier and faster. It this is the case I would say no, you can't.
NAKA Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 Right.... Looks like the notebook DVD´s are not the full installation.... There´s i386 dir on both DVD, but the total size is something about 250 MB.The Windows Home has 445 Mb...Thanks for the help!
prx984 Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Yah, so that may just be something to do with drivers. The XP home cd you were asking about, just run that through nlite, it should work just fine.
